Imagine waking up in a charming mountain cottage where history meets modern comfort, just steps away from the best of Cashiers village. Nestled in the scenic landscape of the western NC Carolina mountains, Cattail Cottage offers a private retreat for those looking to recharge and reconnect with nature.

Cattail Cottage was built in 1937 on land that was once home to the Cherokee. Talmadge Seldon and Maude Lance started a lumber mill in 1932 and began "half-round log siding" construction and began selling lots in a subdivision they named, Lancewood. While fully renovated, Cattail Cottage maintains some of its original charm with the D-log siding and original sweet gum flooring.

- Exclusive dock
- Provided fishing kayak
- Fire pit
- Coffee bar with Keurig, drip coffee maker, French Press, starter pods, teas, sugar to get your day started.
- Patio
- Deck
- Hammock

- We are dog friendly for up to one house-broken and well-behaved dog that is two years or older and 50-lb or less. Please disclose age and breed of dog and add non-refundable fee of $125/dog when booking; see additional requirements below under House Rules).
LOCATION:
(.4) We are an easy walk to the "crossroads of Cashiers," which is the intersection of Hwy 107 and Hwy 64.
(.2) Cashiers Ramble - a walking path that rambles around many favorite locations such as the Farmer's Market, Buck's Coffee Cafe, Whiteside Brewing, Slabtown Pizza, the Village Green (which includes a playground, elevated boardwalk, memorial gardens, and summer concerts) as well as other shops and restaurants.

About the host
Hosted by Timothy

We have invested in vacation rental properties and have over 25 years in providing memorable vacation experiences. We love and respect the locations where we have properties and enjoy the intersection of connecting our guests with them no matter the time of year.
Why they chose this property
Cattail Cottage is fully renovated inside and out with impeccable attention to connecting guests with their surroundings. The property location on its own lake with a unique ecology creates a setting to connect with nature while providing a short stroll to the center of Cashiers.
What makes this property unique
Cattail Cottage is a 2 bed / 2 full bath home located on its own private lake with 3.31 acres and yet an easy stroll to the center of Cashiers. The home is perfect two couples or a family of four. It is less ideal for babies, toddlers or anyone who may have difficulty navigating stone steps since the home is not handicap accessible.
We've used a professional landscape architect's talent to embrace the lake location in order connect guests with a unique ecosystem. From porch to patio with fire pit, dock with provided kayak, and "Camp Cattail" where you can prepare meals outside on the park-style grill with nearby picnic table as well as relax in the hammock. Sitting on the dock you can expect to observe turtles, fish, ducks, herons, and even a resident otter.
