About the host
Hosted by Heather Harp
Hi, I'm your host, Heather — a retired paramedic, nature enthusiast, and animal lover! When I'm not enjoying time with my husband, three dogs, one cat, and lively parrot, I love exploring the beautiful Smoky Mountains and admiring the incredible wildlife that calls this area home.
Creating a peaceful, welcoming space for guests has been a dream come true. Whispering Bears Chalet is located in bear country, and we truly treasure our Smoky Mountain black bears. To help keep both guests and wildlife safe, we provide 'Bear Aware' guidelines at the chalet—simple steps that ensure everyone can enjoy these amazing animals from a safe and respectful distance. For more information on bear safety you can visit https://bearwise.org/

Why they chose this property
I chose a chalet in Chalet Village because it feels like a true home tucked into the heart of the mountains. There's something so peaceful about being surrounded by the forest, with the Smoky Mountains National Park and downtown Gatlinburg just a mile away. It's the perfect mix of nature, adventure, and comfort. I wanted a place where you could enjoy the magic of the mountains — spot a black bear wandering by, sip coffee on a rocking chair, and still be close enough to explore the town or hit the hiking trails. Whispering Bears Chalet became that perfect cozy escape I had always dreamed of sharing.
