About this property

Mississippi River views, year-round Hot Tub and Bald Eagle Visitors

This River Retreat home is a waterfront property on the Mississippi River in the Twin Cities metro area. It is quite convenient to the MSP airport (20 minutes), (St. Paul/ Minneapolis- approx. 30 minutes). Take in the sights and sounds of the river right from the soaring, timber frame great room, deck, or outdoor hot tub! Hawks, bald eagles, foxes, turkeys and wildlife of all kinds are common visitors. Watch for barges and boats on the River, or admire the strange 'laser beam' sounds of rubbing ice in the coldest depths of winter.
We have severe allergies and try to keep our home dust and animal free, as well as free of scented cleaning fragrances. Animals are not allowed, as we have severe allergies and asthmatic reactions to them that have put some of us in the hospital despite inhalers, medications and our best efforts. Sorry, this includes 'hypoallergenic' animals. bi-weekly dusting by our cleaning service is included with your stay, and can be scheduled at your convenience.
Our home is a fabulous space for family reunions, sports teams, gatherings of friends and getaways. Enjoy the outdoor hot tub or the backyard fire ring. There is plenty of sleeping space and a loft area for the kids to hang out with TV and roku, in addition to the living area. The kitchen, and dining room are all open to each other making it a great space to hang out with friends or family. All the twin cities is a short drive away, and there is a marina down the road if you want to explore the river.
There is an apartment above the garage that is not included with this rental. The apartment is where we crash occasionally when we are in town visiting family. (our first review from 6 years ago mentions it being a corporate rental - we were finishing up a contract, it has not been a corporate rental since). It has a private entrance in the garage where the only common wall with the home is. There are no shared spaces among the apartment and the home other than the garage. 2 garage parking spots are included with the rental.
***We have a Rental Agreement that you must be signed because of our insurance coverage***
***There are outdoor security cameras***
***If you bring an animal on the premise without disclosing to us, and obtaining our written permission, you will be charged the $1000 pet fee for deep allergenic cleaning and replacing items that cannot be properly cleaned***
Right now we have the calendar open for summer. Please inquire for longer term stays over fall and winter.

Don't forget to leave the garage door opener in the basket on the desk! Have a safe and refreshed journey home!
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Must acknowledge No-Animal policy. $1000 cleaning fee for violations. Also, acknowledge exterior security cameras on property.
Must download, sign and remit rental agreement to me for insurance purposes. Use VRBO direct message feature with attachment.
Acknowledge owner suite above garage: We occasionally stay in the apartment, which has it's own private entrance in the garage.

Our stay was fantastic and the home was clean and fresh, beautiful, welcoming, and had more than we imagined. (Loved the inspiring artwork, jacuzzi, hottub, piano and many areas and touches for all ages) We should have planned for extended family to gather there while in town for a wedding. The listing doesn't do it justice. Owners thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. We had one reason to contact the owner, and the reponse was immediate and accommodating. Our stay couldn't have been any nicer.

This place is perfect for a quick get away for our group. It is close to the Twin Cities, but feels like a real hideaway. There are plenty of spacious rooms, bathrooms and areas to gather. It was a little strange to worry about the renter above the garage, but all in all, everything from the decks, patio with fire pit, hot tub, and lounge areas were perfect for our group of ladies! We had a wonderful stay here. It is a beautiful home with plenty of common space to gather with friends and family. The kitchen is well-appointed and open to the great room. The home was very clean and inviting. It is quite close to St. Paul yet tucked away on a quiet street with the Mississippi River right out back. We enjoyed watching the bald eagles and the gorgeous sunrises out the large picture windows. Nancy was very friendly and easy to communicate with. We could not have found a more perfect place for our family to meet and enjoy each other’s company.

Great for Family Get Togethers!

A little off the beaten path, but definitely worth it! This place is extremely kid-friendly. The layout nicely accommodates large groups...especially with two bedrooms and 1.5 baths on the main level and two more bedrooms/full bath upstairs. Made for nice sleeping arrangements and morning prep. Owners are very responsive and accommodating. The view of the Mississippi River with barges and bald eagles was awesome. Open floor plan meant easy conversation between kitchen and living room.

We needed a place for 6 adults to stay and host family dinners and brunch for 13 for a family wedding weekend and this home couldn’t have been any better! Exceptionally clean, beautiful setting and everything we needed from the kitchen to the comfortable beds and more. We truly felt welcomed and enjoyed the wildlife the river and the trains. Close to the airport and easy to get to 494. We hit the jackpot!

Great family experience.

Nancy, her family and the awesome location were wonderful hosts for our eleven day stay during our daughter's wedding. Our guests from Finland and California all fell in love with this child friendly home on the Mississippi River; barges, boats, water planes and wildlife were the exciting daily experiences. Except for a few misunderstandings because it was such a new listing, a tenant over the guarge and availability of exercise equipment, this home was perfect for us, our two grandchildren, and our international guests.

We stayed her for a family memorial service and wanted to have everyone be able to stay together. This property was great for our group of 7. Very convenient to the airport and the twin city area. Would definitely reccommend this property to others.

Well, we built this home for our family a decade ago! We still love it, and have made several improvements lately, like new flooring and carpet on the main level, a bunch of new furniture, the hot tub & patio and a lot of cleaning up! We've put most of our personal effects away so this can feel like you're in your own home while you're here.

What makes this property unique

The balk eagle roost in the tree right out the living room window makes it quite unique. Especially in the mornings, you will see bald eagles when you stay!
