About the host
Hosted by Neil Walsy
I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, and have always felt lucky to call this place home. I love nearly all outdoor activities—whether it’s hiking, fishing, skiing, or just soaking in the midnight sun. I enjoy sharing the beauty of Alaska with visitors and take pride in making sure guests have a comfortable, memorable stay. Hosting allows me to meet amazing people from all over the world and help them experience the best of what this incredible state has to offer.
Why they chose this property
I love this neighborhood because it offers the best of both nature and convenience. It’s incredibly peaceful, especially after work hours, giving you a real sense of calm right in the city. The property sits on Ship Creek, where you can watch salmon swimming and ducks floating by, all from your window or while relaxing in the backyard. It’s also directly next to a bike trail that leads straight into downtown Anchorage, so you’re just minutes away from great restaurants, shops, and cultural spots. Whether you’re after quiet nature views or easy city access, this neighborhood delivers both.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property special is the rare mix of urban convenience and a true Alaskan nature experience. You can sit outside and watch salmon run and ducks glide by on Ship Creek, which is literally in your backyard—a front-row seat to the natural beauty of Alaska. The bike trail next door gives you effortless access to downtown, so you can be in the middle of the action within minutes, then retreat to your peaceful spot by the water. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy your morning coffee with wildlife views and still make it to dinner downtown without a hassle.
