About the host
Hosted by Stephanie Harrison

Hi, I’m a proud Paxico native and even attended 3rd grade in this very schoolhouse! Today, I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids—whether we’re diving into a DIY project or slinging sand in our side-by-sides at the dunes. Hosting gives me the chance to share a special part of my past while welcoming new people into our tiny town. It’s been such a fun journey to repurpose this old school into a cozy, comfortable stay that lets others experience the charm of Paxico firsthand.
Why they chose this property
You could say the neighborhood chose me. I grew up here and moved away after high school, but when the opportunity came to purchase the old school building, we jumped in with both feet. There's something special about small-town life—the sense of community, the quiet charm, and the slower pace. What I enjoy most is seeing guests discover Paxico for the first time—whether it’s exploring local shops, enjoying the nearby Flint Hills, or just experiencing the peaceful surroundings that make this place feel like home.
What makes this property unique
What makes our property truly unique is its history and transformation. This was once a grade school turned middle school, and now it’s been thoughtfully repurposed into a one-of-a-kind guest stay and our home. Each classroom has been remodeled into a spacious suite, blending original schoolhouse character with modern comfort. From chalkboards to cozy beds, guests love the nostalgic touches combined with today’s amenities. It’s not every day you get to sleep in a classroom—especially one that feels like home!
