About this property
Our happy place - a serene, rural refuge
Preface: Our home is new to VRBO, so we have no ratings yet. However, it has been listed on another major site for a few years now and has garnered there the equivalent of a 9.84/10 rating from well over 100 stays.
And a quick note: Please be sure to read "Guest Access" at the bottom before booking!
Welcome to Our Happy Place where original Craftsman architecture meets Mid Century Modern decor. Updated amenities and warm oak (even squeaky hardwood floors) blend to give you breathing room from the hustle and bustle of city living.
Relax in the garden, enjoy coffee in the river room, nap on the sofa.
Whether you spend your day kayaking on the Flat River (just down the hill at the public boat launch), skiing or tubing at Cannonsburg in the winter, watching or driving at the spectacular Grattan racetrack nearby, golfing at several great courses or visiting Fredrick Meijer Gardens, you’ll come home to Our Happy Place to enjoy a drink and a meal, or dine out at one of the area’s excellent restaurants. Then again, once settled in, you may not want to leave the house at all! If you time it just right, you may even see the local high school band marching down the hill.
This is a beautifully preserved original vintage Craftsman home with modern creature comforts and amenities.
Downstairs are a large and comfy living room, a separate study, a sitting/TV room (the "River Room"), a spacious dining room, a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast counter, and a mudroom at the entrance from the driveway. A convenient half-bath is near the entrance.
Upstairs are two guest bedrooms. The master ("Llama Room") has King size bed and a recently remodeled ensuite bathroom with a large shower. The other bedroom (the "Otter Room") has a Queen size bed and its own full bathroom across the hall with a tub and hand shower.
The front porch and the split level rear deck are furnished for lounging and enjoying the small town view out front or the secluded garden in back.
The Flat River is visible through the trees right down the hill in Fall, Winter and early Spring.
Guest Access:
Normal entry to the house is via the door off the driveway which is equipped with a one-click app based keyless lock system.
Once you book, all you will need to do is click on the link you will receive via text on your smartphone to set up the app. The app will ask for your name and email, that's all. Just heed the link right away so you don't forget and misplace it... ;-)
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN IPHONE OR ANDROID PHONE, OR ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH SMARTPHONE-BASED TECH, PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP SO WE CAN SET UP AN ALTERNATE (less slick...) ACCESS METHOD FOR YOU.

About the host
Hosted by Yoram

We have lived in Michigan most of our lives, and while more recently migrating South for most of the year, we've kept our home here to continue to enjoy its beauty and serenity and come back to family and friends.
Why they chose this property
The peaceful and private setting in the small town of Belding, yet within commuting distance from bustling Grand Rapids offers a great combination of qualities and options for a wide range of activities and moods.
What makes this property unique
This is an original, beautifully preserved Craftsman bungalow built in 1920. We are the 3rd owners and have owned it for over 20 years. Laurie has been investing her artistic and gardening talents in curating the interior and the garden. This is our home when we are in MI, not an investor's income property.
The interior is furnished in our beloved mid-century style. At the same time functional aspects have been continually updated and the home offers the comforts and amenities we and our guests expect nowadays.
