We stayed a few days and the town and surroundings were very nice. The lake was clean and not too busy. The cottage was in a great location and had everything you needed.
A great experience. Hosts were easy to communicate with, the house was cozy and clean and had everything we needed. Location is great and the lake is beautiful
We had an amazing stay at the cabin. I went to "Camp Brookline" every summer for 20+ years from birth and it was amazing to be back. My kids would spend all day at the beach and town is so close, we'll be back every year.
Cozy and clean. Great sunsets on large concrete patio/dock. 2 min to Bridgton in car. Liz (owner) was accessible and personable when I had a question. Recommended.
As a kid, I summered just a few doors down from the Brookline Cottages, and am pleased to report the property offers a wondrous vibe decades in the making. The screen doors, the cribbage board coffee table, the woodwork -- everything said "chill here." Big ups to Liz, my responsive host. The beach was steps away, with kayaks and other amenities at your fingertips. Plus, the "neighbors" -- mostly owners from what I could tell --were quite welcoming, to the point where one generous gent took me on a pontoon boat ride, during which we traded stories of summers past. As I think of it, the lake isn't the only thing that's fluid here. So is time itself.
It exceeded my expectations and was everything I dreamt it would be.
A very cozy and charming cabin, equipped with just about everything a person may need. We did not want for a thing other than sunshine. (Lots of rain.😊)
The owners of this cabin have put a lot of thought into the contents of the home. The outdoor shower is a must. The cabin was immaculate and neat as a pin. I tried to leave it that way…..
Honestly, when you walk in the front door, first impression is “ahhhh’l it just brings a smile to your face. I hope to go back sometime soon. MG
Liz and Rick's place for us is a little slice of heaven. It is a cabin where you can make memories of a lifetime and enjoy the gentle bliss that is the lake country in Maine .
The cabin was super clean when we got there. The rooms are a nice size. The sounds of the trees and of nature from the screened in porch is super relaxing and its a great place to watch your kids as they play in the playground below. The beds are very comfortable. Rick and Liz equipped the cabin with everything from plasticware to all the kitchen utensils, and also books for kids and adults, games for a rainy day, tons of extra blankets and towels and even beach towels.
In addition we had a couple of minor issues and the second we reached out to Liz and Rick, they popped over to help us out and fixed it. It's also about the small details for them. Over the years, they've added so many amazing little touches. This time we really loved the fairy lights they put on the porch, which made eating dinners at night into an enchanting experience.
Amazing Cabin.
Amazing Hosts.
Amazing Service.
Amazing experience.
We can't wait to come back!
Perfect, classic Maine cottage in an ideal location
This is a perfect cottage on a pristine lake in a friendly neighborhood with its own playground for the kiddos. Plenty of waterfront options to enjoy swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding or just sitting lakeside enjoying the afternoon sun. Cottage is just as described - kitchen is well-equipped, entire cottage super clean, cute artwork and comfortable furniture and beds. Nice seating options outside of cottage with nice landscaping touches of seasonal flowers, there's an outdoor shower and gas grill is clean and works perfectly. And so close to Bridgton center with a mandatory visit to Renys (a Maine must-do), Saturdays farmers market with so much to choose from, casual eateries and coffee shops and a bonus - a seafood/lobster market that's a 2 min drive away that will steam your lobsters for you. Definitely a 5+ property and owner was extremely responsive. Such a great getaway and experience and is a do-again!! Kudos to the owners for their attention to detail - thank you!
Great size for the two of us, there was also a second bedroom, so it could be a good house for a small family as well. Loved the three season porch, even if the October mornings on it were brisk! We really value walkability in a rental property and were thrilled this was just a 10 minute walk to downtown Bridgton.
Our quaint cottage within Bridgton's Brookline Housekeeping Cottages community was exactly as advertised. It is perfectly appointed with attractive furnishings, everything we could have needed, right down to the frosted glasses in the refrigerator! There are comfortable beds in the two generous bedrooms and an efficient kitchen area,. The living area contains a comfortable couch and rocking chairs and opens onto a spacious screened porch with couch, comfortable chairs for reading and an attractive eating area. On the grounds are a grill, picnic table and more comfortable sitting areas.
The cottage is located within walking distance of Bridgton, a typical Maine town which includes gift shops, art galleries, a Reny's Department Store, grocery stores, restaurants and even a Bavarian Chocolate Shop!
The cottage community, which has a beach on Highland Lake, is located within a ten minute drive of Pleasant Mountain and Moose Lake and is within a mile of the Bridgton Golf Course.
The cottage was welcoming from the time you walked in. Neighbors were friendly and Rick checked in to make sure we were all set. We enjoyed being out on the lake and sitting on the porch in the evenings. The downtown was a great place for walking and getting the yummy lattes at Beth’s cafe.
We had a lovely few days at this perfect little cabin. We enjoyed the lake, the kayaks, the cute little down town, and especially the huge screen in porch at night.
We loved our week at Liz and Rick’s place. The cabin was thoughtfully furnished and our kids loved the playground. Our days of morning swims and afternoon paddles and evening views of beautiful sunsets went by way too fast. We can’t wait to return.
The cottage was cozy, comfortable and in a beautiful area. It had everything needed for meals (outdoor grill), patio, the screened in porch was lovely for cooling nights. The available kayaks were a great addition as we didn't have to travel with our own. Overall, we loved it and hope to return next year!
Liz's cabin has the right mix of modern conveniences while still feeling like a classic Maine Cabin. It's well outfitted and located and Liz was a great host.
Loved being able to take my kids on vacation to the same place that both dad and myself stayed as kids. Loved that the house still had similar features that I remember but with updated accommodations that made for a comfortable stay! Hope to get back next summer!
Liz was great to deal with! The cottage is sweet and comfy and just a very short walk to the water. In spite of a little autumn chill, I found it peaceful to sit by the water at night to look at the stars (no light pollution!) Took one of the kayaks out one evening while hubs fished a bit. We found this location convenient for day trips like the White Mountains, hiking, Fryeburg Fair, and loved the lovely town of Bridgton. The bridge in Pondicherry Park is a mathematical marvel! We even found a little movie theater! Beth's Cafe and Morning Glory Cafe were great finds! Enjoyed a round of golf up the road, too! Beautiful! Met a lot of friendly people! Thanks Liz!!
Everything was just as presented in the overview of the property. The cottage was sparkling clean and wonderfully
appointed with everything we needed. The paddleboard and kayaks were the added plus for us. Enjoyed every minute of our ten day stay.
Really adorable cottage for our family of 4. Fantastic screened porch and A/C was very much needed for a few days of our stay. LOVED the outdoor shower!! No view of the lake from the cottage but a close beautiful sandy beach and close access to the lake (we paddled every day). Beach excellent for swimming , water was warm and very enjoyable. Would be good even for small children closely supervised. Only slight drawback was kitchen needing a few more utensils- had to purchase-but small stove was fine for the cooking we did (outdoor grill as well). Small close playground also a plus. We very much enjoyed our week staying at the cottage.
Great location on a pristine lake. The cabin felt like a hotel! We had everything we needed and the outdoor shower was a family hit!

About the host
Hosted by Liz
We're a local family who have raised 3 boys in Bridgton. They're all out of college now so we purchased this cottage so we'd have lake access as well as walking distance to town. The sandy beach and ability to walk to town is what's most appealing. The cottage is original 1950's era, which is what we love and in 2021 we've added heat and A/C to extend our season. We've updated the bath, floors, appliances, kitchen, fixtures, bedding, furniture, etc. to make it fresh, while keeping the original charm.
Why they chose this property
The screened porch is the best part of the home with a beautiful breeze and plenty of room for dining or just hanging out.
What makes this property unique
The outdoor shower is a true gem, with room to change in the 'dressing area' of the shower. Makes for a less steamy house and plenty of privacy.
