About this property

Mountain Retreat! Ruby's Roost House

Summary:
The sleepy town of Mentone invites you to Ruby's Roost. With 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a full kitchen, laundry, and a lower-level kitchenette with an additional sitting area, Ruby's Roost provides ample room for both entertainment and relaxation inside and out.

The Little River Canyon National Preserve is located just 1.7 miles away from our home.

When it is cold enough, you can ski at Cloudmont Ski Resort, and when it’s warm enough you can swim in the river!

We can't wait to host you!

The Space:
*Fireworks are strictly prohibited on our property at all times, including holidays. We appreciate your understanding!*

**Note: We offer WiFi for your convenience, but please note the rural location can cause the connection to be spotty, and it may be unreliable at times. We recommend downloading any essential files and content in advance, just in case the connection is not working.**

Upon arrival, enjoy the breathtaking scenery that can be appreciated from one of the many vantage points on our property. Come inside, and you will find the view is just gorgeous! The main level of our home boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and an open-concept living space. Guests will enjoy our full, eat-in kitchen, stocked with all the basics needed to settle in and feel "at home." Our living room provides ample seating options and a large flat-screen TV with Roku. A queen bedroom and a full bathroom are located on the main level as well.
Please continue to the upper level of our house, where guests will continue to enjoy views of the valley below. Two queen bedrooms, each with direct access to a shared full bathroom and laundry can be found on this level. An additional lounge space with games and a futon is upstairs.
The lower level of the home offers a shared relaxing/sleeping space, which includes a small kitchenette, a queen bed, a bunk bed, and a sofa. The last private bedroom is in the basement with a king bed. There is also a full bathroom.
Make sure to try to narrow down your favorite outside spot as well! With three levels of decking that wrap around the house, as well as a fire pit and other various places to sit back and relax, you might find yourself spending more time outside than inside! Don't forget to take time to check out the beautiful wildlife around the property, especially the ladybugs! Welcome to our home! We hope you enjoy your time here as much as we do!

***Wildlife frequents this area; please use caution***

***We love our big, warm windows - and in the winter, so do ladybugs! They are harmless but resistant to pest control treatments. Please open and close the door to the porch quickly to reduce the number that gets inside. If they do, a small vacuum is in the corner of the dining room. You can suck them up and dump them back outside!***

***Please inquire about our other home on our property, the Magpie Nest! This additional unit is positioned above the detached garage high in the trees, boasting an apartment living feel w/1 bedroom, one bath, and the same fantastic view! Rent the homes separately or together for a fabulous family retreat!***

***We kindly ask guests to treat all towels and linens with care. If any items are stained or damaged beyond repair, a replacement fee will be charged to cover the cost of new linens. This helps us maintain a high standard of cleanliness and comfort for all future guests. Thank you for your understanding!***

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions regarding our home! We look forward to hosting you!

Beautiful View

We really enjoyed our stay at Ruby's Roost. What a view! The sunset was amazing to watch from the top balcony. The pool table was a lot of fun even thought the table was a bit off balance. We were a bit disappointed witht the cleanliness of the place. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the stove top was dirty , dishes still in the dishwasher, and some trash from the last guests still in the trashcan. The place could really use a deep clean and it was not as well stocked as other places we've rented in Mentone. Nonetheless, we had an amazing time. There is the sweeest stray cat that hangs around the property and is very hungry and vocal.

We had a wonderful time enjoying the magnificent views from this venue! The weather turned out beautiful for our whole stay. There was plenty of room for all of 6 of us guys to spread out on the 3 levels. The kitchen is pretty well equipped but be sure to bring your own coffee or tea kettle if you like better coffee than what is provided (Maxwell house) or like to brew tea. We ended up bringing good coffee and a tea kettle. There was also 2 refrigerators (one in basement level and one on main floor) that really helped with the refrigerated items we had. The windows in the dining area need some blinds or thicker curtains due to the afternoon sun. There is some noise from a train in the valley that comes along a few times a day and night. So, keep that in mind if light sleepers are staying. The beds are a mixed bag of comfortable depending on the room. Maybe mattress toppers would help? Otherwise it was a great stay!

Great views. Great location. Great communication. Plenty of wild deer on and around the property. Interior photos make it look, fresher and newer than what it is but was nice enough for us.Apologize if we overlooked either of these in the descriptions, but1)Did not find out until we arrived that you could not flush toilet paper but had to put in a trashcan next to the toilet. 2) Unaware until after we had rented that there is an additional garage apartment on the property that could be rented by someone else while you’re there. Honestly prior knowledge of either one would’ve kept us from renting the property. Also, this would not have been the property owner‘s fault, but on the second night stay, the adjoining neighbor decided to work in his work shop with the door open, which opened towards the balcony area that we were sitting on. We ended up going inside and turning on the TV to drown out the noise. The first and last evenings were quiet and the skies were beautiful.
