Welcome to By-the-Bay Cottages!

We are located in the beautiful, historic, pastoral, serene setting of Black River, South Marysburgh, Prince Edward County, approximately 14 km SE of Picton.

Drive down Morrison Point Road past historic farms, grazing sheep, horses and goats, 200 year old stone walls, the amazing Vicki's Veggies, honey and egg stands to reach 78 Wilolea Lane.

Our cottages face directly east on to Smith's Bay, just in off Lake Ontario

You will experience beautiful sunrises, glistening blue waters, be entertained daily by swans, ducks and an array of other birds and wildlife and relax nightly under dark, starry skies by your private campfire.

We offer 3 large, clean, open concept cottages, ALL facing directly on the waterfront, privacy between each cottage, mature trees and cedar hedges, updated furnishings, living, dining and kitchen areas. Perfect setting to rent your own cottage, or arrange a family reunion and rent all 3.

This housekeeping cottage, " Waupoos View" has 3 good size bedrooms, ( 1 Queen, 1 double and 2 singles), all with pillows, pillow covers, lightweight comforters. "You supply your own sheets and towels!"

Fully equipped kitchen ...including refrigerator, stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, coffee filters, dishes, pots, pans, cutlery, garbage bags and dish soap
4 piece bathroom
Electric heat
Ceiling fan, extra table fan in master bedroom. No A/C, just lovely lake breezes
Colour TV, for local channels only, with DVD Player, Radio with CD player
Large deck attached to front of each cottage, facing waterfront, with patio table and chairs
Gas BBQ - propane tank, propane supplied
Picnic table and 4 Adirondack style chairs
Private campfire area for each cottage overlooking waterfront. We do not supply firewood
Basketball net, Swing set
Large Dock, (you may tie up your own boat, no extra charge)

2 parking spaces per cottage

PETS welcome. Maximum 2, $10.00 per day, per pet. Please bring pet dishes, blankets, beds. Pets are not allowed on furniture and owners must clean up after their pets. Dogs must be unleash outside.

This reservation has a Firm cancellation policy.

A 100% refund is provided for travellers cancelling at least 60 days before check-in.
A 50% refund is provided for travellers cancelling from 30 to 59 days before check-in. No refunds are provided for travellers cancelling less than 30 days prior to check-in.

Our house rules: primary renter must be 25 or older, maximum 6 per cottage, (No exceptions), No smoking inside, no parties or events . Quiet Time 10 PM.

No Fireworks, No Camping, Tents or Trailers Allowed.

Family Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful stay at the cottage for our annual family Thanksgiving trip to Picton. The cottage was very clean and well stocked. The view was amazing, only wish the weather had allowed us to take advantage of the outside amenities. Judy and her husband were very quick and reactive to our needs.

It’s better by the bay!

Our hosts were lovely. Very responsive and warm. The cottage was extremely clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. There was tons of wildlife around - fireflies, beavers, otters., swans and rabbits! The water was shallow and refreshing . I highly recommend!

Fantastic!

My family and I had a wonderful stay. The location was great, the cottage was great and the weather was great - we could not ask for anything more!! The waterfront was beautiful and we enjoyed watching the sunrise over it each morning. The cottage was well organized and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The host, Judy, was excellent- very responsive and incredibly accommodating! I highly recommend.

Different from what we were expecting

I think 3 stars perfectly rates the property. The lake view is beautiful! If the weather was nicer we would have totally taken advantage. The space was pretty cozy (800ish sqft) and was decorated nice giving old cottage feel. If you’re looking to go do wineries or explore picton/wellington, expect a 30minute drive.When we arrived we noticed many (MANY) ants and ladybusy in the property. We felt like we were killing bugs every 3 minutes. In addition some of the dishes looked like they weren’t clean, with some leftover food marks and coffee stains. It only took washing with soap to get it off so probably should’ve been cleaned before we arrived.The property also didn’t supply towels and sheets, and you need to bring your own drinking water. Some of this info is on the listing, some is not.Overall I think it comes down to feeling like we paid too much for what we received.

Right on the water's edge

Very nice place, it is a chalet perfectly located. We had problems with running water but it was fixed fast. Weather was so so but we were able to do a 45 km bike ride up to Long Point along side the water edge!! Very nice!!

Magnifique site!

Le cottage est directement au bord de l'eau et on y trouve tout le nécessaire pour un séjour agréable. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié le rond de feu près de l'eau. Judy et Jim ont été des hôtes merveilleux et sont très rapidement venus répondre à nos besoins quand nous avons eu une difficulté.

Gorgeous cottage

Beautifully decorated, newly renovated cottage right on the water. Three good sized bedrooms with brand new beds, nice furnishings in the living room, spacious deck out back and the lake right at your feet in the backyard. Quiet location, an absolutely perfect spot for a getaway. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful area - perfect retreat.

The stay at By the Bay cottages was very relaxing. Judy was a wonderful host! The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. The PEC area was affected by some flooding this spring and she made sure this did not affect our vacation at all. She gave us plenty of tips as to what we could do in the area that would be fun for our two year old. We really loved all the nature, in the morning swans swim by while your having breakfast at night there’s a symphony on sounds and your surrounded by fireflies. We even got to swim in the lake, the water was a little chilly but super refreshing and clean. We wore water shoes because the bottom has a bit of weeds and leaves. The only thing I would recommend for the cottage in the future is to upgrade the beds as we found them to be quite old and uncomfortable.

Each cottage is separated by trees and hedges for utmost privacy. A wonderful escape for families and couples alike.
