About this property

Grade II Listed Tudor Cottage in the Heart of Constable Country

Tegfan is a beautifully restored Grade II Listed Tudor cottage sitting in the heart of Dedham High Street — one of England's most picturesque villages, right in the centre of Constable Country. Just one hour from London by train, Dedham offers miles of unspoiled countryside for walking, cycling, kayaking and paddleboarding, with world-class gastropubs and independent shops on your doorstep.
The cottage sleeps up to 3 guests across two bedrooms — a queen double and a single — with two bathrooms including a deep bath and rain shower, a spacious downstairs reception room and a cosy upstairs snug. Outside, a private enclosed patio with electric Ninja Woodfire BBQ awaits in the warmer months.
Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, dining area for four, parking, washer/dryer, Wi-Fi, central heating and hairdryer. A sofa bed in the upstairs snug is available on request.
Tegfan was named by our Welsh grandmother, who told us it meant "Happy Place." We hope it lives up to its name.

Hello! I'm a yoga teacher and writer living between LA and Dedham in the English countryside with my dog Dylan. I love yoga, art, film, music, writing, pickleball and traveling all over this beautiful world.
No matter where I travel I always love coming home to Dedham. It is a magical place which still looks very much like the landscape that John Constable painted back in the 1800s.

Why they chose this property

Once you arrive you won't need a car to explore the miles of unspoiled countryside. You can enjoy stepping back in time and experiencing village life, but with cute cafes, world class gastropubs, chic boutiques and well stocked Coop (open 7am-10pm daily), all within walking distance. Dedham Vale is the perfect destination for walking, cycling, kayaking and paddle boarding vacations. Designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty by the National Trust, you can retrace the steps of the great landscape artist John Constable along the River Stour to Flatford and visit the spot where he painted The Haywain, his most famous piece.

What makes this property unique

Tegfan is a unique detached Tudor cottage with its own private patio right in the heart of Dedham village. Combining the charm of original exposed oak beams and wonky floors upstairs with high speed internet, all mod cons in the newly renovated galley kitchen, including a ninja woodfire bbq on the well-maintained private patio. Unlike other properties nearby, we also provide reserved parking in a private courtyard nearby, or if you prefer we can arrange for a permit for you to park on the High Street.
