Luthier's Landing #9

Step back in time at our historic lakeside cabin, built by hand by world-renowned violin maker Carleen Hutchins and in our family ever since. Two west-facing decks over the water: one private to the cabin, one shared, with a traditional canoe slide, canoe, and kayaks. Two bedrooms, one bath, sleeps six. Ours is a shared family point, so expect a friendly dog nearby and a horse in the pasture. Rugged, rustic, and authentically New Hampshire.

The view from the property was excellent. Saw some incredible sunsets. The cabin’s construction is extremely interesting, being that it was built by a violin maker. We enjoy the stay the family that was around extremely friendly. I just wish I knew before hand that they would occasionally be passing through the property. Enjoyed reading about the history of the place. It’s location goes with out saying. My only complaint is even though it’s listed as a cabin and they could do a better job with the screen/windows. Still was a great place to spend the week!

This is a classic and vintage lakeside cottage set in the trees above the shore. The hosts were great communicators and expressed genuine care for our comfort and enjoyment. Here are a few things to note. The grounds are hilly with roots and rocks to navigate. The second bedroom is a loft with steep stairs. The bathroom is small with a shower stall and with doors that open to the bedroom on one side and the foyer on the other. The shoreline faces west and receives the westerly winds across the lake. That, combined with the rockiness may make boating and swimming difficult from this cottage at times. There is one other cottage as a close neighbor although it was unoccupied at the time of our rental. Lots of great old books and memorabilia to enjoy. Lovely porch and decks overlooking the lake. Nice country lanes to stroll right from the cottage. Heat is electric, If you like the old-timey lakeside experience, this is a good one.

Host was consistent in his communication and his family was quiet and respectful of space when feeding animals on the shared property. I got to chat with Cassie in person and it's clear they put love into this property. The cabin is super cute and should be appreciated for what it is. It is not modern but has everything you could need. There is excellent air flow throughout the entire cabin with just the doors open and the lake steps away. What an amazing place to swim and snorkel! It's all rockfront and rocky ground so there's no sand getting moved around by the waves resulting in super clear water. The waves can get really strong from the wind and boats which makes for a great workout but could be scary for inexperienced swimmers on the slippery black rocks getting in and out. We all slept well, which I attribute to the daily swims and very comfortable beds. Host supplied everything we needed including an amazing abundance of towels. The smoke alarm is very sensitive when cooking but that's a good thing for such an old place made entirely of wood. The window next to the stove provides an incredible draft as well as view! Everyone, including our dog, was sad to leave. Seriously, our dog cried when we backed out of the driveway. We will definitely be back and look forward to staying longer next time!
