Perfect location, accomodations and view for visiting Washington Wine Country!

My wife and I spent our anniversary here and it was the perfect location, accommodations and view for our getaway from Seattle! The rental is centrally-located in Washington Wine country with Yakima about an hour to the west and Walla Wall about an hour to the east with the Tri-City wineries and towns in between. Although only one bedroom, the place is super clean, brand new and spacious with large kitchen, living room, master bedroom. It feels comfortable - the perfect place to chill over a bottle of wine. And, it has an amazing view of the Yakima River, hills, farm land and big blue sky. If you're from Western Washington where 'the trees are the view' you need to hang out on this porch and watch the sunset - awesome!

Family visit..

We stayed at The Cellar when we were in Benton City. It was a perfect setting for a relaxing time over looking the river and the on line pictures were just how it looked when we arrived. It was very clean and Shawn and Morgan were helpful and very responsive. It is a perfect little place and we would highly recommend it. Sharon and Bill,

Perfect Wine HQ

The Cellar was a perfect place for my wife and I to stay and experience Washington Wine Country. It was centrally located to the Walla Walla, Yakima Valley, and Horse Heaven Hills AVAs. It sits right next to the famous Red Mountain AVA and a dozen wineries are a shot drive away. The apartment was spacious, clean, well appointed and very comfortable. The kitchen was great and the bed easy to sleep on. I will stay with Shawn again when I come back for more wine!!

Great stay

Very Clean. Kitchen had almost everything you could ask for to build a good meal. Tongs and Riedel wine glasses (it is wine country after all) would be my request. Bathroom was clean and the water was hot. Beautiful view of the river, and it is centrally located to numerous wine regions... it is next to red mountain. Its location is the reason I selected it. Minor issues: Bed is a little soft, but you will never make everyone happy. It is also very tall. I am 6'1 and I still needed to hop a bit to get on it. I would bring slippers as the beautiful hardwoods were a little chilly. As another reviewer noted, there is some noise from above. The rental is the walk out lower level of the house. So you enter via a sliding glass door and there are stairs that lead to the upper level of the house. You could hear the dogs scurrying around occasionally as well as human traffic. I would certainly stay there again if the plan was to hit red mountain, prosser and walla walla due to its location to all three. Do not skip out on the prosser wineries. Much cheaper than walla walla and very tasty

Great views and peaceful location

Well-equipped and comfortable accommodation very close to the Red Mountain wineries with great views along the river. We enjoyed wine-tasting in the area before returning to relax in the luxurious surroundings of the cellar. There were thoughtful touches provided such as the wine video and wine maps which we appreciated. Overall a great stay.

Beautiful location near Red Mountain

We had a fantastic time at this property in Sep 2017. The purpose of our trip was to visit some of the vineyards on Red Mountain. The property was clean and comfortable. It has a full kitchen, living room, master bedroom, bathroom, and laundry area. The house is located right off the road with views of the river. We were able to go on a 6 mile jog one morning down the quiet road. Owners were very friendly and parking wasn't an issue. Visitors will probably need a car to visit most of the vineyards on Red Mountain, but this location is about as close as you can get. Overall, this was a great experience. Only minor issue is that the WiFi was slow.

Just as advertised. A wonderful respite with peace and quiet and the river and broad horizons.

The hosts continue to offer a high quality haven away from the stresses of city life. Their efforts to provide a consistently top notch VRBO experience continue to meet expectations.

Amazing weekend away.

It's been way too long since we stayed here, but this place was truly an oasis away from the city (Seattle). The unit was beautifully decorated and very clean. It felt very luxurious and the view in the morning is amazing....when the sun lights up the mountain. It's also very quiet. We will definitely visit again.

Another great tranquil stay in the heart of Red Mountain wine country.

Top notch and plush, this accommodation is very high quality. With amazing views of the Yakima River and views to the West and South, this high-ceiling apartment is anything but a cellar. Modern, very clean and spacious. The hosts are quiet, personable and easy going. This was our second visit in 6 months.

Great Spot for Exploring Red Mountain

We had a great time staying at The Cellar. It's the perfect place for exploring Red Mountain as it is literally on Red Mountain! Beyond the proximity to the wineries, the owners are very accommodating and friendly, and the apartment is a daylight basement apartment that opens up to a patio that overlooks the river. We stayed there 3 nights and had beautiful views of the sunset every night. In addition, the apartment was much larger than I expected! It has a living room with a TV, large bedroom/bathroom with a king size bed, and a full kitchen (which is great becuase there are only a few places to eat nearby). The place was very clean and well-maintained. We had a great time there and would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful one bedroom apartment with less than hoped for experience and welcoming hosts.

This a beautifully furnished and decorated one bedroom daylight basement apartment. The gourmet kitchen is well stocked, including spices and coffee. The view of the Yakima River is very peacefully. King sized bed with excellent mattress. This unit is close to the Red Mountain vineyards and wineries. We have a couple of negatives. Less than welcoming host and appear to want no interaction from their short term tenants. If you come for strict privacy then this is a plus. For being in a wine touring area and the apartment full of wine magazines, no wine opener, although upon a request we were quickly given one. The oven had grease or food spilled in it so that when we tried to bake potatoes, the oven filled with dark smoke and set off the smoke alarm every time we opened the oven to check on the potatoes, even with the kitchen vent fan on high. We traveled in late summer so flies and yellow jackets are always a potential. Regretably we experienced both. No fly swatter in the apartment to kill the over 15+ flies. We never did get rid of all of them. We we're unable to enjoy the patio or yard due to the yellow jacket bees. We also had some issues with the fireplace insert setting off the smoke alarm. It is not likely that we will return.

Great location but not a good choice if you want privacy

The location is ideal for wine tasting on Red Mountain, just a few minutes from tasting rooms and vineyards, and the view of the river is lovely. The rental was clean with comfortable furnishings, and for all that I would have given this 5 stars. My concern when booking was that it is the bottom level of the owner's home, and that would be weird and uncomfortable. I trusted past reviews that said it wasn't. Maybe those renters stayed there when the owners were gone, because the whole time we were in the rental we heard them talking and walking around. When I go away for the weekend I like to sleep in, which was impossible - while the bed was very comfortable, the noise from upstairs early each morning (footsteps, dogs scurrying) was hardly a restful experience.

Tranquility realized.

We had a fantastic stay. Watching the river, birding, using the charcoal grill and touring nearby wineries were highlights. All amenities were top shelf and in wonderful condition. The space is very large, spotless, extremely well maintained and meticulously cared for. Owners are friendly, low key, helpful and easy going.

Wonderful retreat on red mountain!

This gorgeous and completely private retreat overlooks the river and is in the heart of red mountain wine country. Beautifully decorated and featuring a full kitchen, living room with fireplace and a patio with amazing views. The owners even left a bottle of champagne and chocolates for us since it was Valentine's weekend. The wineries were all a short drive away and had world class wines. This place is a real find.

Gorgeous

Beautiful grounds and super quite area to relax and listen to the birds! The inside was beautiful and cozy, lots of room and gorgeous style! This property is top notch and perfect if you wanna get away for some quite time but still able to go venture out for wineries! Even though it is a lower portion of a home, the owners made it very private to their guest's. Well done!!

Long weekend in wine country

We had a great time. The bed is very comfortable. The amenities are new, clean, and of high quality. The location is close enough to wineries and restaurants to be convenient, and far enough out of town to be quiet and secluded.

Fantastic getaway!

We had an amazing weekend getaway at The Cellar. Despite the fact that we had never heard of Benton City before, the location ended up being perfect - the riverfront views are amazing, there a dozen wineries within a few miles and we truly felt that we got away from it all. The actual unit is so well-designed with top end finishes - they've thought of everything. Great kitchen to cook in, although there are a number of wineries nearby that serve food. We brought our bikes and had fun biking around the tri-cities. The hosts are thoughtful and caring - they will take care of you!

A retreat

Perfect location for the embroidery retreat I attended. This location made it hard to want to leave. Everything was first class, the furnishings, the decor, the view and the kitchen. I couldn't have found a better place to stay. The owners were wonderful and helpful to top it off. Would stay again without question.

best we have ever had

This was the best vacation home my husband and I have ever stayed at. Beautiful surroundings, great bed and pillows, comfortable furniture outside and inside and great coffee machine with coffee. We felt totally spoiled in this place. Spent a little more money than we usually do for a vacation home but it was very much worth it. Can`t beat that view.

We purchased our land in 2006 and built our custom home in 2010 with much planning. We enjoy making a comfortable quaint space for you to stay, a home away from home. A unique rental with a lot of love and attention put into our home. My husband did much of the finish work himself. The walkout basement was built with the wine tourists of Red Mountain in mind, so much thought and attention has been placed into this rental.

Why they chose this property
