The place was wonderful. Clean and right across the street from the beach. Large enough for a big family and also cozy enough for only a few. It was truly a wonderful vacation and amazing to be able to sit on the porch taking in the view of the ocean enjoying a coffee. So close to the water that you didn’t even have to carry everything down with you. I am very happy we stayed there and will book again.
We had a great experience with our big family. We loved the location and the front porch. We appreciated the extra beach accessories, the back deck, and parking in the back. The two sets of stairs were hard and tricky at times. Overall a memorable stay!
The location is amazing! You can walk barefoot to and from the beach. Nice backyard for outdoor games. Easy walk to Short Sands and the Nubble. Ice cream and general store just steps from the house. The house is older and there isn’t much space to hang out inside. The bedrooms and beds are small. We still had a great time!

My family has been visiting York Beach most summers since my elderly dad was little. So we've stayed in many different locations along Long Sands Beach over the years. This property location is terrific, and the host was very pleasant, helpful and easy to communicate with. The house itself is very old, which itself is not uncommon along this Beach. On the plus-side, it had air conditioning units in about half the rooms. On the challenging side, the walls and flooring are completely uninsulated (as well as having no sheet rock or plaster and lath...literally just wooden walls) so there is no noise protection at all from room to room. The stairs between each floor are very, very steep and each step lacks much depth, so traversing between floors can be tricky, especially if you're carrying anything. And both bathrooms are on the 1st floor, so middle-of-the-night bathroom visits are a little precarious. The kitchen is on the small side, and the living room is, too. So, even though there are beds for up to 12 people, there is not much comfortable seating inside for evening gatherings with family. The beds are very uncomfortable. Definitely, a worthwhile investment for the owner would be new mattreses and box springs. After long days at the beach, I treasure looking forward to a good night's sleep, and that was out of reach for just about every member of our group. Location is worth a lot, but at the price charged, I had hoped for better accommodations.
The location is perfect - right across the street from the beach! My knees did not like the steep stairs and the dishwasher didn't work but everything else was great: pet friendly, grilling on the deck, beach supplies, fully-stocked kitchen and clean linens in all of the rooms. Our family really enjoyed our stay and time together at the house and the dog loved his walks on the beach after dinner. Thank you very much!
The location was exceptional! The neighbors were friendly. The house was quaint as it seems to be one of the original homes on the beach that has had some recent updates to the 1st floor, the stairs were steep and the bathrooms were both on the 1st floor which took some getting used to but this comes an older home. Plenty of rooms for everyone to stay, new & clean linens in all rooms, fully stocked kitchen, new grill & washer & dryer. Was a great stay & would stay again. Thank you

Can't beat the location!! The floor plan helped, but it may be helpful to inform guests that all bathrooms are on the main floor and the stairs up to the bedrooms are very steep. We had some difficulty with the dishwasher but responsiveness from host was immediate. There was not much food storage space, we ended up moving some food prep/storage supplies to accommodate our dry food. Our family enjoyed our stay and our time together at the house!
First impression as you walk in the front door is not great; soiled carpet, dirty floor, shelves loaded with knick knacks that needed dusting...but if you know YB, and what an awesome location this is, NONE of that mattered! The living/dining area is small for a house that sleeps 12, and the kitchen was not great...but we were there for the beach and this location cannot be beat. I loved the rustic bedrooms and the layout of the 2nd and 3rd floors. The steps are steep, but manageable. If you have a toddler or small children who need the bathroom at night, it may be an issue.Bathrooms back to back on first floor was not an issue for us either. We rented linens and that worked out perfectly. The bedrooms are adorable.Best part of the house is that porch. We spent our family time there and at the beach, which was so close.Family owners/occupants on both sides were sweet and welcoming. The pro's far outweigh the cons on this house. We look forward to staying there again.
Check in was smooth. I expected a no frills cottage stay, but I do wish the house was a bit cleaner. As others have noted, the rug in the main living area was dingy looking for a first impression upon entering the house. More seating in the living and dining space would have been nice for a group our size, although I am not sure how the owner would be able to work that with the layout of the home. Stairs are definitely very steep and narrow especially for the older adults that were staying with us. Plenty of parking behind the house for 3-4 vehicles. Can’t beat the location!
