House has nice open layout & Camp Hill is a very nice area close to Hershey & Hartisburg
Camp Hill is a very nice area close to Hershey & Harrisburg. The home has a nice open floor plan with new hardwood floors. Owner was vey prompt in his response to any questions & concerns we had. The 2 main bedrooms upstairs & downstairs were too warm & the Great room was chilly & we were not able to adjust the temperatures to make it more comfortable.

Nancy, thanks for writing the review. We appreciate it but a little confused about the 3 star rating. You had mentioned you had a great stay and loved the house besides the fireplace issue. In terms of the heat not being able to be adjusted, the vents do open and close to regulate the heat. Guest did not make me aware of this until the end of her stay. In regards to the great room, that was a fireplace issue which I sent the handyman over to fix right away as soon as I had found out. Guest didn't want it fixed due to having large family over but I did offer electric oil heaters to compensate. The fireplace was fixed right after her stay and is in working order. We are now also installing black out window curtains for further comfort. We will continue to make any necessary improvements and appreciate our guest's suggestions. It is a great house in a very convenient location.

We had to cancel prior to stay, work was being done on house at the time.
The house wasn’t quite ready for us to move in, so we had to cancel this stay. The owner has refunded our payment, we are awaiting a refund of the fees that were paid to Home Away.

Not as advertised
This review will come as no surprise to the owner b/c within 18 hours of checking in (after a 17 hour car ride from Florida) I sent an email with the following issues and photographs of every item mentioned attached in the messaging app for VRBO:
- dead flowers were left on the counter in a bone dry vase, making us wonder how well the property was cleaned
- two dirty and extremely worn sponges were left for our use.
- a wad of hair was found in the sheets
- a booger was found on the comforter my daughter was to use (luckily we brought our own comforters and blankets)
- there's a black peeling leather sofa under the large picture windows that is not photographed (this would have been a deal breaker for booking). Other fun new pieces of furniture include two black chairs filled with animal hair.
- there's a window AC unit in the upstairs master bedroom conveniently left out of all the photos that show that angle. This would have been another deal breaker for booking.
- there were exposed wires in the master bathroom.
- the upstairs shower curtain was dirty and rusting.
- the master vanity has a large gaping hole behind it so that a major draft comes into the bathroom.
- random holes, wires and cracked electrical plates throughout the house.
- the stairs are so steep, I actually fell down them and landed at the front door. they are not photographed, and I made my best guess looking at the handrail. We have a child with special needs who can do stairs, but these were too steep for her, and apparently too steep for me as well!
It took over 36 hours for the owner to respond to all these issues. I asked how they would be willing to make it right, and they said that their house wasn't a great fit evidently. No mention of all of the issues that were not photographed, the different furniture, the cleanliness, dead flowers, sponges, etc. They were willing to let us move and receive a refund for the days not stayed, but due to such a short trip, their delay in responding and no other suitable places to stay on such short notice, we toughed it out. I asked for a discount, they would not provide it.
Basically, this is like staying in a property that's been flipped with minimal work to make it income producing. I wouldn't stay here again.

Feel free to contact me about any of these issues that this guest has reviewed here. I assure you the house is in great shape and not what she has described.
Guest was upset that they did not get a discount for their stay. Sorry, we don't cater to entitled people...we do however always try to make things right if we are in the wrong.
Our response has been on point and quick to what the guest reported. We decided to offer her a full refund of her remaining stay which was substantial to appease her. We even sent her available listings in the area but apparently those didn't fit her daughter's needs either. Mind you this house has 2 large bedrooms on the main floor where there are no stairs. Everything is on the main floor for a small family of 3. Not once did the guest mention about her special needs child prior to the booking or stairs being an issue.
I guess having extra amenities in the house (extra seating, bedding, window AC for extra cooling in master) is "not as advertised". I apologize for not having these in the professional photographs but I cannot have them come in shoot new pictures for every update. The house is clean, large and comfortable. It has a great layout and lots of room to spread out. Sizeable kitchen with tons of cooking wares and countertop space for prepping and room for multiple cooks. Very convenient to a lot of things.
Regarding hair or any accusations about the house not being clean, please read our past reviews. It's cleaned professionally by the same cleaner for the past 3-4 years. Cleaner knows better and she double checks her work. Guest is required to report any issues within 1-2 hours of check-in, not 18 hours later when it's been lived in.
Hosts, beware of this guest. I don't like to call guests out but this one is a doozy!

An "ok" stay in PA
We stayed at this house with friends for a few days. It met our needs as a place to stay and the children had fun in the basement!
The house had all the necessities (3 bedrooms (plus a finished basement with lots of extra beds), 2 bathrooms, lots of extra sheets/towels, kitchenware, TV's, labeled light switches (we really liked that!), Large refrigerator, etc...). My husband did message the owners a few times about broken items and cleanliness.
We noticed that the overall house was not clean (which may fall on the cleaning crew). There were balloons tangled in the ceiling fan, garage still in the garbage cans (kitchen), the floors were filthy (we were wearing socks or bare feet) and our feet/socks were incredibly gross! There were small pieces of glass upstairs on the hard floor (one of the adult's cut her foot on the piece of glass upstairs) and in the basement (one of the kids cut their finger on the glass in the basement). They were both fine, it was just a shock to us all! One of the beds in the basement was wet (we were unsure what that was from). The grass was incredibly long (which really didn't matter, but it was really buggy outside), and the garbage cans outside were never emptied by the previous renters. This made the basement smell of trash actually and the smell outside was pretty rancid!
For the broken items, my husband reported to the owners the microwave above the stove/oven and the oven fans/lights did not work. A few towel racks were broken or almost broken.
The house fit our needs for our Hershey trip, and our overall experience was "ok."
My coworkers and I absolutely loved our Camp Hill house. We enjoyed the large spacious living room, kitchen, and outdoor area. We look forward to coming again in the near future!
Because of the complications of COVID-19 travel restrictions, we had to make adjustments to our stay. The owner worked with us with class and professionalism and understanding.
We enjoyed the house the back door handle needs to be looked at because we had to fix it multiple times. no body soaps provided. But it fit us all comfortably and the beds were soft we enjoyed the kitchen and the cleanliness!
Thanks so much hope to stay again!!

Ideal location, immaculate house.
The host was prompt and help from booking to checkout. New hardwood floors throughout, new washer and dryer. Large screen streaming TV, with several local broadcast channels.
Plenty of room for a large family, though the dining table seats about 6.
Camp Hill is one of the nicest neighborhoods near Harrisburg, Easy access to major highways.

We invest in various real estate asset classes as a source of income and serve as a retirement strategy for our family. Love passive income with minimal work. We have developed a system for it and now expanding internationally. If you like to know more, just ask us. Otherwise, enjoy your stay at our well furnished home.
Why they chose this property
This Camp Hill property is unique. Being in an older neighborhood, the homes tend to be small or closed off from other rooms. Not this house. It has an open floor plan, a soaring great room with tons of windows, gas fireplace and a large deck and yard to entertain.
The location cannot be beat! You can either walk to local conveniences or take a very short drive to other locales in the area. There are 5 major shopping areas all within 5-7 minutes of the house. You can also take walks at anytime of the day. Lots of parks in the area as well.
If you like the outdoors such as hiking, camping or fishing, there are quite a few parks, streams and rivers to take advantage of.
The house is decked out! You'll have everything you need to have a comfortable and relaxing stay. All appliances are higher end and have unique features.
Come and see why this house will easily suit all your needs while traveling. We guarantee it! Thanks, Q & Ann
What makes this property unique
This home is literally brand new inside with the full renovation made in late Fall 2017. It has gas heat, central air, tankless water heater (unlimited hot water for showers). Kitchen built for a gourmet chef and plenty of space to entertain and mingle.
It also has a softer side. There are 3 large bedrooms and a finished basement to relax and have separation. The large outdoor deck and fenced in yard gives you plenty of outdoor living space.
Location, location, location. This property is very centrally located to all points central PA. You're literally a few minutes to the major freeways and main streets of the town and surrounding cities. All the shopping and restaurants can be had by walking. Tons of things to do - just refer to the Guest Book or here on our profile for recommendations.
Overall, it's a very updated and open floor plan home that you will enjoy. We promise!
