Hi Mikayla, while we are very sorry your plans were disrupted due to the storm, we also feel your review is misleading and unfairly mischaracterizes us. The storm was county-wide and while we did everything we could to update you, send you information, and make sure you had what you needed to be safe and comfortable, the storm was completely out of our control otherwise. We were not in a position to grant you another night’s stay because we had electricians coming later that day to do work on the property, something that had been scheduled long in advance. A late check-out was the best we could offer, and even then not required but we truly did empathize with your situation. After all that we did to try and accommodate your group, we were shocked to find that your children had drawn all over our basement floors. These are NOT chalk floors as you stated. I’m not sure where you got that idea. Additionally, you claim that we charged you an additional fee for your dog, but we did not. Yes, your dog was larger than we typically accommodate and left copious amounts of hair on the furniture, but as we mentioned the pet fee helps take care of this. The additional fee was only for the drawings all over the floor, and the foul odor from vaping inside. It was not a seafood or ocean smell. We have actual fishermen who stay at our rental throughout the year and never have had an issue with a smell. All this to say, all that we went out of our way to do for your group despite the unfortunate storm felt completely unappreciated and unrecognized by the state you left our rental in. Perhaps you have not used a short-term rental booking platform before, but based on the way you communicated with us, left our property, and then mischaracterized us, we would not recommend you as guests to another host.
