The home has vaulted ceilings and an 'open air' feel with lots of skylights and pocket doors that disappear into the walls leaving a vast open view of the spacious deck, the dock, the water and wildlife. A large 2 car garage and driveway should take car of your vehicles, but there is extra parking nearby for boat trailers and possibly an RV. Recreational amenities include 2 bicycles, a double kayak, a single kayak, canoe, 2 spinning rods with tackle for fishing off the dock. Serious anglers should bring their own gear. The house was more than we expected! Clean, well stocked, great location and the water view was excellent. The area was peaceful and our host Terry was awesome. We will be making a return trip very soon.
The Otters Den is a hidden gem. The house was very clean. The kitchen had everyting we needed. We spent most of the time successfully fishing in the canal. We did a manatee tour that was outstanding. The host lived next door and was very attentive and friendly. This was a wonderful house and we'll be back this summer for scalloping.
Wonderful place to stay whether the weather is perfect or you get rained out. Close enough to town and restaurants but tucked away so you feel away from it all
We had a great stay for opening week of scallop season. Everything with the house was just perfect. Looking forward to booking our next stay at the Ottersden!
This is the perfect home away from home. It is very well equipped with anything you could possibly need. Spacious, clean and a great location. We will be booking this one again.
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us! We had a wonderful stay — everything was clean, comfortable, and just as described. We especially loved the peace and quiet of sitting on the deck. And the ease of jumping in the boat for a day of fishing. We really appreciate your hospitality and would love to stay again in the future!---Would you like me to make it sound more formal, more casual, or more personal (as if you’re writing to a specific host)?
We had a wonderful stay! Terry is a wonderful host and is very attentive to any issues. The house is convenient and well stocked with everything we need. It is in a great location with access to the river and springs and shopping nearby. We already booked again for next year!
Beautiful spacious home! Very clean with all the amenities needed. Large waterfront deck with a beautiful view! The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming. Will definitely stay there again! Loved it!
We enjoyed our stay in this very spacious home. It had everything we needed and the best seafood restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend the Otters Den to anyone visiting Homosassa.

I appreciate all guest suggestions.... and I'll remind my cleaner to get those new linens and towels out of that locked closet next to the bathroom and use them!
Third time staying at Otter's Den and we can't wait to go back! Terry has thought of everything, it's a wonderful home with all the amenities. Clean, beautiful spot, comfortable beds, nicely decorated, space to spread out, close to restaurants, really perfect... it's just hard to leave!
Great stay for opening of scallop season/4th of July.
We loved everything about the house - the location, owner, neighbors and all the comforts of home. Great boat dockage and a good place to store the trailer. House is spacious, clean, organized and has a well equipped kitchen. We will definitely be returning.

About the host
Hosted by Terry Evans
While building our little pocket cruiser my wife and I decided finally to retire to our favorite Old Florida getaway - Old Homosassa. We'd been visiting here and bringing friends for years and always dreamed of living here permanently. Now we do!
Why they chose this property
When another house in our quiet neighborhood became available, we bought it from the owner before it was ever listed on the market. The neighborhood is perfect, the house is well constructed and has always been well cared for, and the waterfront location is the best in the area. We bought the house specifically to remodel as a vacation rental (We have others in Roatan, Honduras), but I'm sure that if Otters Den had been available when we were shopping for ourselves we'd be living there now.
What makes this property unique
60 feet of dock space on a deep canal 1/2 mile from the Homosassa River, 3 miles from the Gulf of Mexico makes the house a boater's dream. A wheel chair lift in the garage allows easy accessibility for elderly or disabled. The rear deck is huge, the back porch/family room, living room, kitchen and master bedroom all have great water views and north light without glare.
