Historic Home, Ideal for Executive Rental, Hunters, Fisherman
Renovated summer 2017 with nine foot ceilings, living Room, dining Room, eat-In breakfast nook kitchen, two full size bedrooms, one small bedroom, claw foot tub in bathroom! front porch, large back yard with gardens and fruit trees and picnic table, access to alley from model T garage, off street front and back parking, and stone basement with Washer and Dryer (basement great to store hunting/fishing gear safe and secure, will consider allowing keeping dogs in basement).
One of the oldest homes in Mandan, dating from 1870s, was a Sears and Roebuck home shipped across the plains for a foreman of Northern Pacific Railroad when Mandan was the western terminus. Much of home restored and appointed to the era, but with modern central heat and updated kitchen.
Walk to coffee shops, bars, restaurants, and shops downtown and at the restored NP Railway Station. Three churches within 5 min walk, as are bike trails and swimming hole on the Heart River. You'll never want to stay in a hotel when visiting Bismarck-Mandan again. Just 7 miles to the Bismarck Capitol, too.
Great for travelers looking for an overnight stop, or for HUNTERS and FISHERMAN, too. Easy drive to surrounding hunting grounds, as well as Medora.

Great little cottage for wkend wedding attendance, space to stretch out and relax at night. A grill was in back but due to cooler weather, eating out won out.
Very comfortable bungalow in a quiet small town neighborhood. Pet friendly fenced back yard. Nicely furnished. Will stay here again the next time I’m in the Bismarck area.
It is a beautiful home, tastefully decorated and maintained inside. Garden needs a bit more work, I am a gardener, so a little disappointed from what I saw on the web page when I booked.
We loved our stay. The property is clean and comfortable. It really is just like home. Everything you might need is here. Thank you to the hosts for making our stay so perfect.
This location is fabulous for engaging with the downtown Mandan area. This neighborhood is quite and the house is comfortable and restful. We enjoyed the backyard garden area with our little traveling companion dog. We will absolutely stay again!

Charming old home. Drafty. Floors were cold from the draft.
Very clean place. I was only disappointed because I had two dogs and there was no way to get them out the back door due to the stairs. Little to dangerous for them. But I just took them out front on leash. They just didn’t have a yard to roam. Otherwise it was fine.
Would love to know the history of the house. A few things we would have liked to have had was a more modern stove and oven to use, and even though the tub was authentic to the house, it could us grippers on the bottom as it was slick when taking a shower. We enjoyed our stay and the opportunity to have or fur babies with us in the house was a big reason why we chose this house to rent. Thank you.

Thanks for the review Kristin. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The house is likely the oldest house in Mandan. We understand it was a railroad foreman’s house, floated across the river-built before the Missouri was bridged (1873).
Unfortunately because of the age of the house & the way the kitchen is designed, a new oven range will not fit. We are scheduled to get the tub refinished and will definitely get a non-skid service.
Hope to see you back again!
The little house in Mandan was wonderful… (I would live in a place like that!) It was perfect.
Our trip to North Dakota was “legendary” – I have not gotten over it. The farmland amidst the harvest was a perfect time to visit I loved the prairie sunsets, the places and people Of note was the Corn Feed at Buckstop Junction, biking along the Missouri River in Bismarck, dancing at the Lonesome Dove, kayaking on Lake Sakakawea, driving along the Enchanted Highway at dusk, the Badlands, and most of all the people.
My best memory has to be eating our lunch on a dirt road and the edge of a wheat field, watching a distant truck go by in a swirl of dust and feeling the ever present prairie wind blow by.
If there is a heaven, it has to be a late summer’s day in North Dakota.
We want to come back soon.

This is the second time we have stayed at this Small Town Gem and have been extremely comfortable and cozy in the home both times. The fenced in backyard is also great for doggos, especially in the winter months!
"A lovely stay in Mandan," in spite of unseasonably warm and smokey weather.
This is a clean, updated, late 19thC mail-order house, literally a pleasant step back in time. I got to wash a lot of dishes, as we were there for a month, but kitchen sink had a nice view of the wonderful vegetable garden and lots of flowers. The house and, especially the beds, were comfortable, the host and hostess quickly and satisfactorily attentive to the few problems we had. We would happily stay here again.
Had a great time with my girls. This property was in a quiet neighborhood and worked perfectly us. Was great that we could walk to our choice of two Catholic Churches! Short drive into Bismarck.
We found this location to be a great home base for our visits to friends and favorite locations. We weren't in the house for much more than sleeping and breakfast, but we had everything we needed when we were there. Beds and floors have creaks and squeaks, but that's to be expected with a historic home. Window unit A/C's worked great. Also nice to be able to use washer and dryer. Neighborhood was great for walking our dog, too. Owners are attentive and nearby, should you need them. (We didn't.) Great stay!
This was a great place to stay- very clean and comfortable beds! The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities for cooking. Nice little porch and patio area. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in the area! It’s right close to downtown Mandan too.
