About the host
Hosted by Alice & Lloyd, Gallatin Gateway, MT
Alice came to Montana more than 45 years ago to attend graduate school at Montana State University. She loved it so much that she was determined to return when she retired.
Lloyd met Alice in Nebraska. Alice's only requirement for getting married was that Lloyd had to be willing to move to Montana when they retired. So here we are!!!
We each have a PhD in soil physics and enjoyed careers working in agricultural and environmental research and extension.
Lloyd was a federal agricultural scientist in Nebraska and conducted research on rainfall - induced soil detachment, animal waste management, irrigation management, conservation tillage, soil compaction and soil quality.
Alice was a professor at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She conducted most of her research on farm fields specializing in rain - induced soil erosion on steep hillsides, soil compaction, reduced tillage systems, and crop production under drought conditions. Her work as a state extension specialist focused on translating research results on the above (and associated) topics into useful information for farmers, ranchers, agricultural companies, and local, state and federal agency personnel.
She also served with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. for two years. First as a Water Quality Grant Manager and then as the National Director of the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (SARE).
We love all four seasons here in Montana and shy away from becoming snowbirds! However, we do enjoy traveling around Montana when we have the time.
Many of our Montana travels coincide with visits from our grandson. He is a real outdoorsman and a fantastic photographer - just check out his photos on this listing. Our son is a busy restaurant manager in Houston and our daughter keeps busy in Nebraska with her school-teacher husband. All travel here to the mountains as often as their schedules allow.

Why they chose this property
Montana is very, very special to us and we truly enjoy sharing it with others,
We came home to Montana when we retired and had the opportunity to purchase this property. After a near total renovation, we get to provide traditional Western hospitality to our guests.
Coming 'home' meant living in the country on 10 acres of land we had purchased in 1990. The house is another story!
We renovated the house because we moved it (yes, in one piece) from Gallatin Gateway proper to our little piece of paradise. It took about 4 hours to haul it 4 miles.
So, here we are in the middle of the mountains, rivers, parks and national forests of the Rocky Mountains but near to Bozeman - an exploding medical, cultural, commercial,, university and hi-tech community.
It is definitely the BIG SKY at its best!

What makes this property unique
LOCATION! LOCATION!! LOCATION!!!
* Central location;
* Quiet country setting;
* Modern facilities;
* Great hospitallity
This is what you get at the Aspen Grove according to our guests. Read them for yourself!! Otherwise, come, stay and read our Guest Registry.
Most of our clients want to travel around the area to see historical and cultural sites, recreate, tour Yellowstone National Park as well as sight see and shop in Bozeman. Our central location allows you to get to most of these activities in 15 minutes to one hour.
Is it quiet here? You bet! Come and listen to our 'silence and serenity'. We are located in an agricultural subdivision with about 30 homes on 600 acres. You can meander throughout our property and enjoy the canal, gardens, aspen groves, and 250 spruce trees. For the hearty, take a walk or run on Lower and Upper Tom Burke Roads. If you want to sit in the trees and listen to a creek, visit our 40 acre private park.
Your modern country condos were newly built in 2001-2002. While the rooms are homey and have some family antiques, you have radiant in-floor hot water heat, private entrances, ceiling fans, all the amenities of home and cool summer nights due to Montana air and the recycled wood deck above your patio. No need for air conditioning but you might want a sweater!
This VRBO site is a good reflection of us and our hospitality. Also, when you stay here, Lloyd is a bottomless pit when it comes to information about anything in SW Montana. We consider it an honor to share our information.
If you want Bozeman or Big Sky right outside your doorstep, the Aspen Grove Vacation Condos are not for you.
But if you are willing to have city life just 15-20 minutes away as well as an extensive array of activities within an hour's drive, Aspen Grove might just be the place for you.
Thanks for giving us this opportunity to share with you. We hope to earn your business!
