This lovely cottage is beautifully appointed with everything you can imagine! Huge 1/2 acre yard if you have pups! Close to town and a 3 minute walk to Idyllwild Park where there are a couple of nice trails to hike.

Thank you, Lori, for your kind words. Happy that you enjoyed Idyllwild ~
October is always a lovely month in the mountains.
I would like you to know how impressed I am of how 'spic 'n span' you left
the cabin. This is always appreciated..... Hope you decide on a return
visit to the "Old Oak Tree" cabin sometime.
Regards,
Marilyn
We loved our month here. Sharing with friends, we spent most of our time on the deck watching the birds and hummingbirds feed and flit around and watching the squirrel circus in the morning, with afternoons and evenings playing cards. We liked walking into town for a meal or to shop.
This was our 2nd stay at this property. It’s easy to find, near the town center and has a great layout with very large fenced yard. Great for small family/pet. Has a great little table for working on puzzles when hanging out inside. :)
The Old Oak Tree house was a perfect choice. Its proximity to the village and hiking trails and large secure yard and deck were perfect for our dogs. The house is well stocked, and the primary bedroom bed was very comfortable. I can’t remember the last time I got such a good nights sleep. It’s a very peaceful place. I hope to stay at the Old Oak Tree again. Thanks Marilyn the manager for everything.

Beautiful place in a fantastic town
Everything was ideal - the place was spotless, had more amenities than I ever imagined for place in the mountains and was just a 5 minute walk to town.
Kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and utensils, and the pantry has so much as far as basics. The house was spotless and all info (wi-fi, remotes, tourist-y stuff) was laid out right as we got in.
No complaints or dissatisfaction - this place exceeded every expectation I had!

Great pet-friendly cabin!
This "home away from home" pet friendly cabin is awesome -perfect size for a couple or small family, quite roomy, and nicely furnished! My husband and I, my mom and our German Shepherd loved our stay. The HUGE fenced backyard was heaven for our dog - she ran her tail off chasing critters and sniffing all the great mountain smells. The cabin is exceptionally equipped with everything you could ever need, and then some! The deck is wonderful for relaxing outdoors in the fresh air, and you just feel right at home in this place!! We will definitely be coming back again in the future!

Thank you, Diane, Bob and Claudia for the kind review. It was a
pleasure meeting all of you and I sincerely hope you do return to this cabin again someday. The truth is, lovely people like you make it a pleasure to manage this property. And in addition, I thank you (and your doggie) for being such respectful guests.
That is very much appreciated.
All my best,
Marilyn
We decided at the last minute to get away for the long weekend with our dog and were lucky enough to find this place. Sure, it's a little dated but clean, comfortable and well appointed. The fenced in, large backyard was great for the dog. The deck was a nice way to end our days, enjoying a drink and dinner al fresco. Not far from the center of town, which gave us the option of walking. Marilyn was very responsive.

Great weekend escape!
My husband and I just returned from an extended weekend in Idyllwild. We stayed at Old Oak Tree! The property and amenities were fantastic! So many little details to make us feel so welcome.....from the filled water bowl for our pup on arrival to the chocolate mints left on the table! The kitchen was extremely well stocked, and if we forgot anything at all, it was there! We spent many hours on the wonderful deck watching our Rory explore the large fenced back yard! Thank you, Marilyn, for making everything so easy and for all of your 5-Star extras in the property. We can't wait to return!

We had an exceptional lovely holiday in your vacation home.
The house is stylish equipped with everything you need. We enjoyed sitting in the garden amid nature and having a barbecue in the evening. The surroundings are great and the center of Idyllwild is near by. Since we were on vacation for a month, we went to the center and the surrunding area several times. Everything could be reached quickly.
We felt like we were in good hands with Marilyn, she took good care of us.
We will be happy to come back.
Greetings from Germany.

Perfect for traveling with your dog. Our dog loved the fenced back yard. Home has fully stocked kitchen for meals in, wood fireplace for cozy evenings in, and location is close to town and hiking trails. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Idyllwild.
The cabin is like a dream. It has everything we need for a week long stay and is very cozy and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and the host even prepared dog treats and toys. What we love the most is the huge fenced in backyard with beautiful trees where our dog ran and played. The cabin is also very close to town and Idyllwild Park with many trails around. We can’t wait to stay there again!
Outstanding holiday home. Spacious, comfortable and tastefully furnished, the home is extremely well equipped with all amenities. The owner truly thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. We had a wonderful long weekend and look forward to coming back in the future.
What a sweet, cozy, comfortable mountain getaway. So close to Idyllwild Park, the nature center, trails, groceries, restaurants & shops. We hated to leave!
The home is within a 10 minute walk to town. Very clean, comfortable, cozy home. Plenty of room and the owner has done a great job of providing all necessities you need to cook or clean. Very large yard and the deck was wonderful to sit our and enjoy liesurely time. We will definitly try to stay here again!
We are a party of 3 adults and 2 dogs who stayed 2 nights in this lovely Idyllwild retreat. My only complaint is that our stay was too short!! The home is very clean and comfortable; the online pictures don’t really do it justice…it’s just so charming! We all loved hanging out on the deck, and our dogs loved the very large, fenced backyard. The property is also very convenient to town. I can’t wait to return! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We enjoyed our stay. It was a great spot for the cost with lots of extras it felt like staying at a grandma's home away from home. As some of the reviews mentioned the decor and furniture is a bit outdated although it is all in good condition so we were fine with it. The location was perfect. A 10-12 minute walk to the c town center with plenty of nature walks/hiking surrounding.
I was in for an intensive 6 day training so I didn't get as much time to explore as I'd like but my husband did & loved it.
The master bed was a bit uncomfortable but bareable & I found the right side more comfortable than left. I had some back pain coming I to the stay so it could be I was more sensitive than normal - it didnt bother my husband. We didn't utilize the other beds so I can't speak to those.
Communication was pretty limited with property manager due to how busy I was and given that we didn't need anything during our stay but the minimal communication seemed pleasant enough with the exception of not hearing back about a couple texts I sent as we were leaving the property (although they didn't necessarily warrant a response I suppose). All in all happy with our stay.
The town has plenty of good food nearby as well. Beautiful, grounded, unique little town!!
My partner and I stayed for a little over a month, working remotely and exploring the area. It was absolutely incredible.
The backyard was great, communication with the host was great! Any little hiccups we encountered on our month + stay were quickly addressed.
Loved our stay and would absolutely come back!
Our family and pup had a lovely stay! We took advantage of the close proximity to Idyllwild park, the community playground and center of town. We also enjoyed relaxing on the deck, running around the backyard and relaxing by the fire. Perfect spot for families and incredibly dog friendly! Marilyn has also setup the house with lots of guidance/instruction and information about restaurants and what to do nearby.
Marylan was a super good hostess and manager a delight to work with the home was perfect and all respect well taken care of and well stocked with everything you could ask for even the pantry had extras for your stay.
Our stay had everything you could want or need. It was a wonderful weekend being so close to town and close to Idyll wild park. Large fenced yard was perfect and a big plus in our book. Will definitely stay again
We truly enjoyed our stay. It was very nice to have someplace to take our Dogs and they enjoyed it as much as we did!!!!!

About the host
Hosted by Marilyn
In 1992, I moved from Long Beach, Ca. to Idyllwild where I purchased an Inn right in the heart of the village. After 12 years of being an innkeeper, I retired from this lifestyle and now work in hospitality part-time, along w/ managing two properties in town. I now can devote more time to hiking and exploring these beautiful mountains w/ my friends.
Why they chose this property
I am very proud to be associated with this property and am grateful to have the opportunity to manage the 'Old Oak Tree' cabin. I love the beauty and solitude of Idyllwild and this cabin represents both to me.
What makes this property unique
One can leave the world behind when entering the cozy ambiance of this property. This cabin lends itself to either just r & r time or used as a haven for hiking, shopping or a base for explorations.
