Hickory Heaven - Spectacular mountain view in charming home/Resort Amenities

This mountain cabin is the perfect place for your great outdoors experience, for a romantic getaway, or for a much deserved respite! You will find that this house has everything that you will need: a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, a fireplace, large outside deck.
When you are enjoying your time on the great deck you will be enjoying the expansive mountain view.

The parking area is right outside the front door.

Guests can enjoy fishing at Hogback Lake which is ten minute walk from our house. For guests who desire an active stay, our Wyndham Resort at Fairfield Sapphire Valley amenities* offer: golf, tennis, mountaineer putt-putt golf, two heated pools, outdoor pool, hot tubs, sauna, game room, fitness room, jogging track, ski/tubing area (winter months). Fairfield Lake is 8 minutes from our house and is perfect picnic spot and has a nice hike around lake. Pontoon rentals are close by at Signal Marina on beautiful Lake Glenville.

*With this rental, adult guests (children under 14 are free) can purchase a guest pass for $5 a day or a week for $25. The pass allows a guest to have access to all of the amenities at Wyndham Resort at Fairfield Sapphire Valley. This also includes reduced greens fees at Sapphire National Golf Course.
Entertainment:

Stop by the Sapphire Valley Resort Community Center (located on Hwy 64 approximately 4 miles from the house) and get your amenity card for resort activities. They have a schedule/calendar of activities that you can pick up.

Sweet Getaway in a Lovely Neighborhood

Sitting on the deck overlooking the mountains was just what we needed for the weekend away. The high vaulted ceilings and comfy sofa were great. Just minutes away from the resort, Lake Fairview, and great hiking!

Great cabin

This Cabin was everything and so was this area. The cabin is in a perfect location central to the waterfalls and hiking trails in the area. The cabin is spotless clean and has everything you need. I have been exploring the wnc area for 20 years and this is the best cabin I have stayed in. Lisa is very easy to work with. Will visit again soon thanks Lisa

Beautiful property, conveniently located. Great communication with the owner. The deck and the view are the best part. Some additional lounge seating on the deck would be great. Inside and outside are in need of maintenance. Overall, we had a lovely stay.

Great family get away

The cabin was nice and peaceful. There is great supermarket in Cashiers called ingles with everything we could possibly need. The resort was a hit with the family, there was skiing for the kids and a heated pool and saunas- even a gym! We recommend you carry some cash around to go to the waterfalls, since some require small cash payments for parking. Everyone arpund town was very nice too. Overall it was a great experience and we really enjoyed staying at the cabin. All our questions were answered pretty quickly too. We recommend.

Disappointed

The outside view and area was beautiful but the house/cabin was not. It seemed very neglected. Missing remotes, clocks with dead batteries, old musty smell, no full length mirror, dryer doesn’t work well. Main bathroom was gross. Beds were comfortable though, but would not stay there again or recommend it.

Lovely view, very nice cabin & location

We had a very enjoyable time in the cabin/area. Lovely view for sitting on the deck with cocktails or meal or watching the open night sky. View of a mountain directly in front. We used the fireplace for relaxing, cozy evenings. Downstairs toilet area is very small and kind of low for the big & tall but the vanity area is very nice. The couple using the king bed felt it was comfortable, I used the downstairs queen and felt is was too hard for my taste but manageable. I love having ceiling fans. Cabin was very clean and well decorated. Location is good - about 7 miles to the Ingalls - which is HUGE with a Starbucks, hot meal bar, etc. and about 8 miles to Cashiers. Within 20 minutes of several waterfalls and the cabin itself is in a lovely mountain community with easy access. We didn't use the resort amenities this time but I have before - the pools, sauna and hot tub are great and there are billards and putt putt. We ate all meals in this time but there are many good restaurants in the area. Plenty of golf if you're inclined. Note: the grill is charcoal, not gas.

Long weekend getaway

The property was very nice. The view was gorgeous. Area was very quiet, but close to Cashiers/Highlands. The only thing I would mention is that at every other VRBO we've rented there has always been hand soap and foil or plastic wrap or some baggies available to use. This rental did not provide that, but luckily I had brought some leftover sample soaps with us. The only soap available was a used bar of Zest in the upstairs bath which we didn't want to use. There also wasn't any laundry detergent available. I say this only so future renters will be sure to bring some with them. There was wood available to build a fire, but no firestarter and only a book of matches that had 3 in it. At least that's all we could find. So be sure to pack a lighter and pickup a Duraflame starter log if you want a fire. Other than those few things, it was a very nice stay.

The location was beautiful, but property is not maintained. It’s old, tired and dirty. Smelled musty. Practically falling down. There was food debris on counter chairs, dining chairs and cabinets. We were asked to take our garbage with us. We did not. Asked to start the laundry and there was no detergent. When we got there the “owner’s manual “ had paper taped to the TV section telling you no direct tv, use your own phone for a hot spot and stream your own subscriptions. Baseboard heaters were literally falling apart. Grill was too dirty and greasy to use. And parking was really difficult. I hate to trash a home, this was truly poorly maintained.

Poor condition

Overall this property was in poor condition and not clean. Many things are broken and have been for a long time such as grill, ice maker, laundary door, linoleum, heaters, knives, cieling fans, fire place flue, vacuum cleaner. There are no cleaning supplies and on and on and on. There is no trash pick up and no place to store it so frequent trips to the recycling center, 24 miles round trip. No fire wood either. Owners did try to make amends but we rented for a month and left 5 days early.

Beautiful Views

We had an amazing anniversary trip here. We brought our dog along, which made the gated porch a really nice feature for us. The location is great, as well, near a lot of different hikes. The views were beautiful and we were able to grill and drink our morning coffee out on the porch. We were also able to use the fireplace in the evenings, which was made for a lovely ambience. We would definitely come back again!

Thanksgiving Getaway!

This cabin was the perfect getaway for our Thanksgiving trip! The house is comfortable and with a roaring fire in the stone fireplace, it was the coziest place ever! It's convenient to anything you need (even a Starbucks!) and plenty of nature literally right outside your door! The location is close to hundreds of hiking trails, mountain biking and road cycling. The town of Cashiers is loaded with cute shops and restaurants and a great grocery store. We loved our stay and look forward to going back in the future!

Perfect Lazy Weekend

Great spot to just relax, build a fire, lay on the sofas, and look out at the great mountain view. Even in off season it was a great distance view of the mountains. Grill was great for grilling steaks. The bed was very comfortable. Ready to come back and be lazy again.

We want to spend more time in the mountains and our dear friends live 1/2 mile from this location. We also have other friends in nearby Cashiers and Highlands. We loved this area because of the endless amounts of hikes and waterfalls and the many fabulous restaurants and shopping in this area.
