About the host
Hosted by Sherry Rasmussen
Sherry and Ivan have been involved the ARTs in Bar Harbor since the early 1970’s and participate in local ART events such as First Friday ART walks. Ivan, who was once Bar Harbor Harbormaster, has spent most of his life near the ocean first in his native Oregon and now on Mount Desert Island, home to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
Sherry traveled extensively as an international flight attendant. Though her travels took her to many beautiful destinations, she says that Mount Desert Island is truly one of the world's treasures.
The beauty of the island is what drew them to Bar Harbor. The magic of the island will captivate you as well.
Ivan captures the beauty of the Acadia in his watercolors that he sells in his own 'ART on West' and other galleries.
Bar Harbor is one of Maine's most walkable communities so Sherry and Ivan live right in the downtown for the convenience of walking to movies, theater, dining, boating, shopping and more. Suites visitors enjoy walking or biking into Acadia National Park. A frequent question asked, " Is Bar Harbor near Acadia National Park?" The downtown is surrounded by Acadia National Park and nearby Bar Island is just a short walk from your suite. Did you know that the 'bar' to Bar Island is the reason for the name of Bar Harbor? You can see Bar Island from your suite. It is one of several islands of Acadia and the only one that is actually walkable from Bar Harbor!
Why they chose this property
Bar Harbor and Acadia are magical…you'll see!
