Loved the cabin it was in a quiet resort community and had everything we needed. Would recommend this to anybody wanting to get away a relax, close to cute towns with unique shopping and restaurants with amazing food.
Cabin was very cold upon arrival. Bath tub possibly had black mold on paneling. Beds were uncomfortable. Only two small logs left next to fireplace. No wood outside like was in pics. We were made to purchase a damage insurance policy for 59 which is ridiculous. Couldn’t wait to leave.

Dear Henry,
I would like to apologize for the lack of firewood at our cabin. We have placed an order 2 weeks ago for more wood and I was hoping it would have been delivered by now. I just sent an email to find out why there is a delay. If you did run out of firewood I could have had maintenance bring you more for your stay. We do keep the heat turned down while the cabin is empty to help save on energy. Typically Black Bear does a pre check and turns it up some prior to our guests arrival. I will speak with them and ask for them to be sure to check the heat setting. Our cabin has always heated very quickly and our previous guests have been very satisfied. We do enjoy staying in our cabin ourselves and have memory foam mattresses for all the beds except the lower bunk bed. We personally find the beds to be very comfortable however not everybody has the same preferences on mattresses. There is some mildew around the wood and sealant on our jacuzzi tub. We have been told that it is not black mold and is not of any concern. It is cleaned well after each guest checks out. I am also unaware of VRBO requiring the purchase of a damage insurance. I will check into that as I have always known it to have been an option for the guests to purchase. Many guests enjoy and love staying in our cabin and we enjoy hosting them.
Thank You,
Laura
The weather didn't cooperate with our plans, but the house did! It was perfect for our needs. We really appreciated the location and the view of the forest.
We had a great time here. If you need to get away from the stresses and problems of your daily life, this cabin offers a quaint and quiet spot for tranquility.
We had a great experience, the cabin was clean, cozy and had essential items there for us. The environment is quiet and beautiful there’s lots of woods to explore.

Thank you for your review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay! We hope you return again one day.
We enjoyed a nice stay in the West Virginia mountains, with a comfortable fire in the fireplace and two feet of snow around us. The cabin is comfortable and well equipped, and the host was outstanding.
Our mid-May, mid-week stay was quiet and peaceful. It was right in the middle of our hiking at Dolly Sods and Blackwater Falls State Park. The cabin was layed out great, had all we could ask for. We enjoyed a nice fire three nights.

Thank you for your review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at our cabin. We hope you get to come back again!
The property and cabins are beautiful. Nice views, quiet, friendly and felt very safe. The cabin was clean and comfortable. We watched deer in the woods right behind our cabin from our porch. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and the fireplace every night of our week-long stay. We hated to leave.
We had a great time at the Rest Assured cabin! We planned our trip to see the Perseids meteor shower and couldn’t have asked for a better spot - we saw tons of shooting stars. We also enjoyed hiking in Dolly Sods and exploring Davis. With 2 humans and a dog, we had more than enough room. We enjoyed the patio and grill, and walking around the Black Bear Resort.

Thanks for the nice review and we are so glad that you did get enjoy our cabin but dislike that you had to cut your trip short. Hope you can try for another trip and hopefully get to stay longer!
Rest Assured cabin in Big Bear Resort was absolutely perfect! We love to mountain bike and the Chris Cowley trail was exactly 1 mile from the cabin. This magnificent trail ended on Camp 70 Road where many of the famous Davis trails start including Hoodoo and Moon Rocks. When we were not out mountain biking, we were enjoying many amenities of the resort including the recently renovated pool and 9 holes of mini golf. The staff at the resort were friendly and helpful. The cabin itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed to make our stay top notch. This is a pet friendly cabin and our 2 dogs enjoyed many walks on the trail around the resort and they enjoyed finding a sunny spot on the porch to rest in the great setting. The host of the property is attentive and communicative. There was not one negative thing about our 5 day stay! We made great memories and truly hope to return again!
We were in town for the Highlands Sky 40 mile race. The cabin was perfect for our needs. The resort was quiet and centrally located to Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley. There are tons of trails and wilderness in the area to explore. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, and deceivingly roomy. Laura and Jeff were great to work with, and very responsive. We'd love to stay here again!

This is a very nice little cabin that was just as described. Very clean and extremely well equipped with anything you might need. Beautiful forest view off the two decks. Excellent communication with the owner Laura. She was quick to answer questions and also provided additional helpful info about the area. Would absolutely stay here again and would recommend to anyone wishing to explore Canaan Valley/Monongahela/Blackwater Falls.

Nice cabin, functional in most cold nights.
The coldest night we experienced was 9 degrees f; the cabin was fine. (Keep the supply of wood inside dry. If you anticipate cooking pancakes, bring your own large frypan or grill.) The deer came up to the cabin's back on snowy days.

Thank you for your review and we are glad you stayed warm in our cabin on such cold nights! We used to have a larger fry pan in cabin, so I’m glad that you mentioned it. I’ll be sure to bring a new one to the cabin the next time I’m there. Would love to have you as a guest again!
Thank You,
Laura
Beautiful location with all the woods and very very clean. My only downside for this place was it wasn’t a true 3 bedroom as 2 of the rooms did not have a 4th wall. Made navigating the space with children very difficult for naps and bedtime. Being multiple sound machines and it can work.

Thank you Alyson,
I’m glad you enjoyed our location and that our cleaning crew has done a great job cleaning our cabin! That is great to hear. Our cabin’s loft is open to the downstairs and the downstairs bedroom is accessible by the spiral staircase which does not have a door so sound can travel. Sound machines are a great idea. My children are now older and it seems it would take an earthquake to wake them. However I remember the days of tip toeing around them doing everything we could to not wake them. I’m going to order a couple sound machines so future guests could use them for napping children. Thanks for the idea so we can help future guests. We hope you had a safe trip home and got to enjoy the valley.
Thank You,
Laura

Hi! My name is Laura Barnette. I have a husband (Jeff Barnette) and 3 wonderful children. We love the outdoors and spending time together seeking new adventures or relaxing after the adventures. We bought our 'treehouse' for a get away place and for a place we could rent to other families or individuals so they can enjoy it too! We are new to WV and to cold weather. Being form the south this is a whole new experience for us. This winter we will hopefully learn to ski/snowboard! Or at least have fun trying!!!
Why they chose this property
We first visited Canaan Valley and Black Bear Resort in the fall of 2017. My family and I fell in love with Black Bear Resort and the surrounding areas. Within 1 month we had a contract on our very own 'treehouse'! We loved this one because it backed up to the wildlife refuge adding privacy and serenity plus it had the double jacuzzi tub! We love coming and staying in it and we hope others will love it too!
