Tranquil
Great property for relaxing. The home was just as advertised. Christine, the property manager was great during our stay. We ended up with about 4 feet of snow during our stay but the team who took care of snow removal ensured that the snow didn’t restrict our mobility. The hot hut was a welcomed addition as we enjoyed the warmth in -9 degree weather😎 Thanks Christine for a wonderfully relaxing stay!

Beautiful Home with Breathtaking Panoramic Views
Our family rented this beautiful three-bedroom home for a four-night escape and it exceeded our high expectations. This comfortable three-level house sits atop a cliff with incredible, panoramic views of the St. Lawrence River, Le Massif, and Baie-St-Paul. The location is excellent to explore the area, while the peaceful neighborhood is perfect for enjoying fresh air in nature. The kitchen is large, clean and very well equipped. The large living room and dining area offer spectacular views. The wood-burning fireplace and outdoor hot tub are wonderful. The master bedroom on the top floor is large and private, while the two lower level bedrooms with Queen beds are well decorated. The house’s smart layout offers very good privacy. We can wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful property and we hope to return in the future. This house is ideal for a family or for three couples.

Perfect getaway place
So we were looking for a peaceful cottage with a view to unwind from our busy schedule. The place looked nice on paper and the view seemed amazing, so we booked. What we found was like being at home, away from home. The hosts setup the place like it was theirs, so it's not cold and clinical like we see everywhere. It's warm, it's human, it's a place to relax and enjoy the view on the bay. It's also full of little nice details. You have many coffee machines to make it your way. You have a pantry full of spices and oil so you don't have to buy it. You can use the owner's own pottery as plates to enjoy dinner. The firewood is complimentary. I mean, the list goes on and on. Sure, it's not the cheapest place around, but you will have a lot for your money. Highly recommended!

About the host

Hosted by Christine Laing

Host profile image
I am a former fashion designer who became a mother and then a clinic and property manager. In my spare time I love being creative by doing pottery, making jewellery, knitting, weaving, painting and attempting to do any other craft that inspires me. I am married to a veterinarian who aspires one day to become a world famous writer. We are now empty nesters as our kids are all grown up. Our son is a veterinarian and practices alongside his father in our family clinic. Our eldest daughter practices law in Vancouver and our youngest daughter is working on her PHd in geology as she loves studying ROCKS and how we evolved. We own two vacation properties that are very special to us. We have decorated them with things we have either found or built ourselves. As owners, we strive to make your stay as enjoyable as possible by offering you all the comforts of home. Nothing pleases us more than feedback from our guests who enjoy our places as much as we do. We know the areas and are here to help make recommendations on the best spots to visit, dine or types of activities to participate in.

Why they chose this property

The french say of Charlevoix: 'Charme moi'. With this house as your base, experience the scenic drives and many picturesque villages of Charlevoix and be charmed. Picnic on the pier of Port au Persil and watch whales, seals and belugas frolic or drive to Tadoussac for a closeup excursion with them. Spend a day trip on the scenic train that runs from Quebec City through Baie-St-Paul and ends in La Malbaie. At La Malbaie, you can enjoy the waterfront shops, go to the Casino, play a round of golf at Manoir Richelieu or dine in one the town's fine restaurants. Le Domaine Forget has a summer festival of music by prestigious soloists and jazz icons. In the Fall, for art lovers their is the 'Reve d'Automne', a painting festival with renown painters, and for the food enthusiasts there is le 'Galade des grand Chef'. For outdoor actives, winter offers alpine and cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and dog sledding. The area is ideal for kayaking, hiking, kite boarding, fishing, mountain climbing and so forth. We recommend you visit the Charlevoix tourist information website as there are way too many things to list.

What makes this property unique

This house is perfect for 1 -3 couples. The floor to ceiling windows in the open concept main floor encompasses a view that stretches 180 degrees from Le Massiff and the bay to Isle aux Coudres. Nestled on a 3/4 acre rocky wooded lot, you have privacy and tranquillity. Restaurants and shopping in Baie-St-Paul are only 5 minutes away and the best skiing this side of the Rockies at le Massiff is only a 15 minute drive.
