About this property

A great place to see Bruges, Ghent and the coast of Flanders

Our house is located on the border of a residential area in the woods of Hertsberge, very close to Bruges, Gent, Flanders's fields and the coast. We've got great reviews so far!

One part of the house is where we live, the other part is the one we rent out.

Newly redecorated.

Your area consists of a kitchen, a large living and dining room, with view on the large garden, three bedrooms, named Sri Lanka, South Africa and Australia, and a bathroom with bathtub and shower.

The kitchen has all you need to prepare your meals: a gas stove, sink with warm/cold water, pots, pans and kitchen utensils, tableware, a toaster, a coffee machine, a water heater and a micro wave.

The Sri Lanka room has a two-persons bed (180*200 cm) with a pocket spring medium firm matras. There is a night table also.

There is also a desk and chair for pc usage, and a closet.

The South Africa room has a two-persons bed (180*200 cm) with a pocket spring medium firm matras. There are is a night tables also.

There is also a desk and chair for pc usage, and a closet.

The Australia room has a two one-person beds (90*200 cm) with pocket spring medium firm mattresses. There is a night tables also.

There is also a desk and chair for pc usage, and a closet.

We have a baby bed that can be put in one of the rooms if need be.

You have your own key to your own front door, which i'll hand over at arrival, when i'm in. When i'm not, there is a keysafe at the entry.

I work from home, so i'm there a lot. Any questions you might have : i'm there to answer them.

But if you want to be left alone, i'll stay out of your way.

Our house is in a very quiet neighbourhood, at the border of the woods. It is a 15 min drive to Bruges, 30 minutes to Gent, 1 hour to Brussels and Antwerp, 45 minutes to Flanders' Fields and 15 to 30 minutes to the Belgian coastal towns. An ideal place to stay when visiting Belgium !

Hiking and biking is great in the neighbourhood, and can be a nice change from the cultural visits. There is a possibility to go kayaking close-by.

Public Transport is poor, so you'll need a car or take a cab in and out of Bruges.

great location to visit

Erick was a wonderful host. The three bedroom house was perfect for our vacation in the Bruges area. The neighborhood is very tranquil and inviting next to a great Forest to walk and bicycle in. There are nice bakeries and groceries to find pre-prepared foods to eat at the house.

Excellent, quiet, relaxing, peaceful and absolutely gorgeous house and property. Erik greeted us, showed us around the apartment. He was very attentive and helpful. All his recommendations were perfect and spot on. Great location for visits to Gent and Bruges and also the coast. Just driving around in the countryside is a plus. Owner Erik was quick to respond and provided tons of helpful information (hiking, cycling, travelling, parking, visiting Bruges and surrounding towns) Many thanks for the wonderful stay. We were lucky to have a massive house to our selves for a night :) very good size rooms and comfortable beds, you will find everything you'd need in the house. Nice time in Belgium

The accommodation does what it promises. Erik is a fantastic host. Erik is always available and has a lot of advice for holidaymakers. The accommodation has everything you need to look after yourself for a longer period of time. The location is extremely quiet and invites you to relax. We can imagine that we will come back!

lovely quiet location

Very quiet location in a rural area with walks from the property. Large property well equipped with access to the garden. Really near to Brugge. The semi spiral metal stairs are a little difficult. Both double bedrooms had either restricted access to both sides of the bed or from one side only.

Idyllic Location

The Two Oaks was a perfect location for a week long stay in the Brugge area. Erik provided outstanding materials prior to the stay and excellent tips on how to get around Belgium, exacting parking locations, best eating spots, etc. The property was so easy for those traveling by car. You can access all of Belgium easily. A special treat was the entertaining animals on site, including three beautiful alpacas. It was a gentle and peaceful home to stay. Highly recommended!

Beautiful and spacious yard and home

Erik is so responsive and quick to help and answer questions. He has great tips for sightseeing and parking when going to Bruges and Ghent. There is a large forested park with paths crisscrossing throughout only a few blocks away. We were all adults, but the animals would be a bit with young children as well, and the yard would allow a safe place to play. The pond portion of the yard is separate from a closed area surrounded by trees. The biking path is also nearby.

Wunderbare, ruhige Unterkunft in Top-Lage

Wir hatten sehr schöne Tage in Belgien im Ferienhaus von Erik. Die Lage im Grünen mit schönem Garten und vielen Tieren ist außergewöhnlich. Wir konnten uns sehr gut erholen und super schlafen. Gent, Brügge und das Meer (u.a. De Haan, Knokke) sind schnell erreichbar. Unser Gastgeber Erik war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir bekamen gute Tipps von ihm und die Kommunikation war unkompliziert und schnell. Erik brachte uns sogar selbstgemachte Kuchen - wirklich sehr nett! Eine Spülmaschine in der Küche hat uns gefehlt. Dies wäre wünschenswert gewesen.

I decided to stop my professional live, apart from some smaller assignments. I live here with my partner and her daughter; who studies in Ghent. We like to travel and meet people from all over the world.

Why they chose this property

We decided to rent this part of our house, which is fully self contained, as of March 2016. In 2017 we had 300 nights booked and had 90 % of top reviews. This only motivates us to go on and try to do as good in the future. Our grounds are 5000 square meters in a vert quiet neighbourhood, parking on the grounds and close to all sites in Flanders. A great place for a short stay or for a vacation.

What makes this property unique

We have a great garden, with three Alpacas as of spring 2018. Parking is available. Close to the woods and great for site seeing, hiking and cycling. We are around most of the time to assiste you and answer any queries you may have.
