About this property

A Private Beachfront House, amazing view of Waratah Bay and Wilsons Promontory

A private beachfront house set amongst the unspoiled nature of South Gippsland and Wilsons Promontory.
The Space
Wirrega is a comfortable barn-shaped structure nestled in 5 acres in South Walkerville, boardering on Cape Liptrap National Park beaches, Victoria.
Available for weekends (or longer) rental, it is the ideal venue for common interest groups, social clubs or extended family groups seeking a relaxed recreational break.
The house compromises 7 bedrooms; 2 Queen and 5 double with loft bunk.
To Book; the rates calendar is a little tricky. Contact us if the calendar doesn’t let you book something you would like - we can customise for you.
The spacious kitchen, a caterer's delight, is very well equipped and includes a dishwasher and boiling water unit. Both the inside and outside dining rooms seat 14 people. You bring your own consumables, food, towels, sheets, pillow cases and doona covers. Heating is provided by gas heating and an open log fire. Inside and outside barbecues are provided for your convenience. Upstairs and downstairs lounge rooms both seat 14 and have digital TVs. Upstairs has a DVD player and USB player. It is a great space to entertain the kids. Downstairs has bluetooth stereo.
Guest accommodation presently consists of five bedrooms on ground level, and two queen bedrooms in a loft reached via a spiral staircase. The downstairs rooms contain a double bed, plus a single bed on an upper level. The bedrooms open onto a communal living space, and all have doors leading directly into the garden. Each bed has a feather doona, pillows and a fluffy rug. Wirrega boasts a double shower room with basin and separate toilet, as well as a big bathroom with double bath, shower, basin and toilet. Wirrega also has a laundry with a small washing machine.
Guest access
Looking out from Wirrega’s picture windows across Waratah Bay to Wilsons Promontory is like sitting in front of a giant television screen. ‘The Prom,’ the most southerly tip of the Australian mainland, presents an ever-changing panorama. The peninsula and its offshore islands stand out in sharp relief one moment, then disappear like magic behind a cloak of cloud the next. The entire area is a haven for wildlife. Birds of all kinds nest in the area. A wilderness camp is Wirrega’s nearest neighbour, which means koalas, possums and wallabies wander across the boundaries at will, and a shady bank amongst the tea-tree thicket fringing the beach has earned the nickname Wombat Haven for reasons that soon become apparent! The shoreline below Wirrega (the boundary is a mere 100m from the water’s edge at high tide) is a beachcombers’ paradise. Volcanic activity aeons ago has created caves and fissures that cry out to be explored, and rocky outcrops that demand to be climbed. There are rock pools of every shape and size – some no larger than a teacup, others big enough to swim in. And along the high tide mark are masses of beautiful shells. Little sandy inlets mean you can enjoy the luxury of your own private beach, though at most times of the year the foreshore is virtually deserted. Not far along the coastline, at Walkerville, are the ruins of lime kilns dating back to the 1880s. Stories abound of how the lime-burners occupied their spare time panning for gold, and 'traces' can still be found today. Other places of interest include the Cape Liptrap lighthouse and the Bald Hills Wetland Reserve.

Beautiful location and gorgeous house
We stayed for a long weekend with friends and family and while we didn't see much sunshine the house is so light and bright and comfortable for watching the weather pass. All the essentials and a great IGA 20 mine away. Wish we could have stayed a week. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with guests.

Amazing outdoor space
We really liked our stay and hope to come back another time. I do wish they will start providing towels and sheets/bedding as that is annoying to have to pack and bring on a holiday/weekend away.
