Driftwood Beach House - Urunga Sea & River Views

Humble without, a treasure within.
The house is open plan in design. Timber floored and full of light, with floor to ceiling windows to take maximum advantage of the views, the space flows effortlessly from kitchen to loungeroom and out onto a generous entertaining deck.

The recent renovation has been a labour of love and the result is both elegant and quirky. Not a flat-pack in sight, everything has been constructed to order, every light-fitting hand-crafted and re-imagined to deliver a piece of industrial artwork in every room.

The kitchen is well-equipped and features new ceramic cooktop, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine and microwave.

The main bedroom has a queen bed and luxurious linen, and a flat-screen smart TV - perfect for curling up in front of a sea-breeze movie after a hard day at the beach.

The lounge room has a new split system air conditioner should you require extra heating or cooling. A king-single sofa-bed in the lounge is available for children or an extra guest.

The bathroom is a highlight - with a choice of the 196 stream, ceiling mounted shower head, or the option of a hand-held unit.

The front yard opens onto an ocean side reserve which allows direct access to the Urunga Boardwalk - an almost 1 kilometre raised walk through mangroves full of abundant birdlife, stingrays and turtles on one side and the tidal Kalang and Bellinger rivers on the other.

The Gumbaynggirr people, the indigenous custodians of the land, call Urunga Gilayjal Miirlarl, which means Hi-Tide Sacred Place…and it’s impossible not to feel that sacredness as the tide works its way in and out of the estuary.

Driftwood has unlimited NBN Wifi. Unless you’re specifically coming to work, there’s a good chance that the view will keep you right out of cyberspace. That said, the house is an ideal space to find focus if there’s a project on your mind.

Gorgeous beach cottage - stunning views

Perfect getaway in a gorgeous location, close to all main amenities of Urunga. Very comfortable, light filled and beautifully renovated cottage. We loved the decor - styled with a mix of modern and vintage to showcase the lovely original property. The hosts are very thoughtful and have been generous with all provisions - both quantity and quality, and have set up like your own home. This is a place you can truly relax- whether it is enjoying drinks on the open deck with views of the river and ocean, reading a book on the chaise lounge, or walk the nearby and easily accessible Urunga Boardwalk. Would love to stay again!

Special place in Urunga

Our second stay at Driftwood Beach House and will not be our last. It is in a great position with everything in walking distance and great views out to the Boardwalk from the back deck. Communication with Rupert is excellent and you could not ask for a better place to stay for a quick break to really relax or a longer stay if you are lucky to have more time. Thanks again Rupert.

Perfect beach shack

Such a brilliant location. Outside is very humble but once you enter it has such a great vibe. It’s the perfect beach shack. The kitchen and bathroom are all new and both very well stocked with all those every day things you need. It’s so beautifully lit with light all day from sunrise to sunset. Great communication throughout our stay. If you’re looking for the perfect water front beach shack this is definitely it. We will definitely be back.

Excellent Week!

In summary, w hat a great week. We live across the road from very popular beach on the mid north coast and this was a true get away while close to everything and no noise and with our friends all in the caravan park we could come and go as we pleased! We found the eclectic nature of the cottage refreshing , very interesting and neighbours are all very friendly and like a chat (go the Knights)! The butcher and deli at the local supermarket had awesome produce, do yourself a favour if you are in the area and go to the butcher! We will be back for sure!

Great Stay!

A lovely, quirky little house, very clean, great location, within walking distance to town centre, shops, clubs, pub & board walk. Magnificent view from back of house.Host very informative & thoughtful in providing quite a large amount of pantry items, and a complimentary bottle of wine. Really enjoyed our short stay here, and are looking forward to returning soon. The most trouble I had was filling in the stayz application as it refused to accept some of my answers, which was very frustrating and very annoying!

We are locals of the Bellingen area and love living amongst the natural, culinary and cultural delights the region has to offer.
