About this property
Architectural Gem in Patagonia, AZ Private 1-bedroom cottage with great views
Unwind in Patagonia at this lovely cottage. Great birding, hiking and biking opportunities. This cozy retreat features 1 bedroom with a comfortable queen bed, a charming living room with 2 sofas that can be used as beds, heating, and AC. Nestled in a private, serene setting, guests can relax and enjoy the fantastic surroundings. Whether you're looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway or a romantic escape, this beautiful property is the perfect choice for your next vacation. We look forward to seeing you in Patagonia.
Details: Built in the shape of an 8-pointed star, this adobe casita is not only an architectural gem but is also cozy and just the right size for 2 people to stay comfortably for a long weekend or an entire year, while getting to know the magical village of Patagonia, the center of which is less than a mile’s walk away. The bedroom has a comfy queen bed, a corner cupboard and large book shelf. And the wall colors pay homage to Claude Monet’s choice for each room in his home to be painted a different color. In the living room are 2 desks, perfect for whether you are seeking a writer’s sanctuary or need to keep in touch with colleagues via the free Starlink wifi. All the rooms connect in a circle, and a brightly painted wooden screen provides privacy for the bedroom which gives access to the screened-in porch. Tree trunks at two points of the star mark the beginning of the living room and open-concept kitchen. The living room has 2 desks, 2 large sofas (perfect for lounging), and a stone, wood-burning fireplace. The 16 clerestory windows can be opened with an electronic control, and they automatically close if it rains. In the dining area is a hand-painted wooden table. Continuing into the kitchen, where you’ll see the one-of-a-kind Mexican tile backsplash, you’ll find it fully equipped (even a rolling pin) for your inner chef to enjoy. You will appreciate the full-size stove, double sink, nice sized pantry, and colorful toaster. From the kitchen, enter the “sky bathroom” with sun, moon, and star décor (including the unique tile design in the shower). Continuing to circle through the casita, you will pass through a pocket door into the laundry room with washer and dryer and large walk-in closet (clothes hangers included). Go through the next door, and you’re back in the bedroom.
Visitors often comment about how quiet and peaceful it is at the Star House, but if you’re lucky you may hear the call of distant coyotes in the evening. On a clear night, the stars are spectacular due to Patagonia’s “dark sky,” and the sunrises and sunsets are always beautiful.
