About this property
North Country A-Frame Cabin: close to snow mobile trails, skiing, hiking & more!
Our A-Frame cabin is charming and rustic! It has some quirks but we think this is part of the Adirondack charm, it reminds us of a step back in time at summer camp. The slanted ceilings make the home feel cozy and some of the rooms are snug because of the shape of the walls. When you arrive you’ll crunch along the crushed limestone and pine needles driveway to the grassy openness before our little cement “stoop” if you can call it that. The green glass door opens to the main door and you’ll step inside and be greeted by a quaint entryway. A small counter with guestbook and board games in cabinet above, and a little bench to hold your first-to-bring-inside belongings. Straight ahead of you is a narrow hallway opening to our kitchen…. More on that in a moment. The door to your immediate left is our restroom with a shower and single unit washer/dryer (please refer to my instruction video if you’d like to use it!) The slanted wall on your right holds ample hooks for coats and hats if you’re visiting in the winter months, or beach towels in the summer. Continuing to the right is our favorite room, the main living room. A big cozy couch, tall ceilings and classic A-frame window will beg you to rest from your travels. If you can will yourself past the beckoning couch, and under the little hook game (a family favorite) you’ll be in the kitchen once again. A modest kitchen but with everything you need to cook and enjoy all your culinary desires. A tiny play kitchen in the corner for your little cooks, a high chair if you need it, and an extension leaf for larger groups to sit around my grandmothers table. (No jokes here it really is my grandmothers table, originating in her Adirondack home!) The door beyond the kitchen opens to what we call the back porch. It has children’s toys, games, and beautiful views of the woods beyond. The couch on your right is a pull out couch if you need it. Don’t forget to turn the space heater on if you’re a winter guest, it gets chilly in there! Down the hall from the kitchen is our main bedroom with a king bed and stunning views of the peaceful woods surrounding. Waking up to such serenity will set the pace for your entire day. What pace you ask? A slow, mountain style, care free, restful kinda day. Up the stairs (be careful! They’re steep and the ceiling is low! We call the climb the bear crawl!) The bedroom on your right is our bunk room. Custom, sturdy, twin bunks make a fun playful room for your children, or a nostalgic experience for the adult who gets to sleep here. It’s a small room so we got creative and made a play space underneath the bunk. Mountain themed books, a bear rug, and a surprise pretend door will excite your littles. Last but not least the other room upstairs has a queen bed. We love the way the light is shadowed in this room. No matter the time of day the sun seems dimmed by the shape of the A-Frame, it casts the perfect glow for a midday nap. Outside our home is an expansive grassy yard intermixed with giant boulders and encircled by woods. Do you know the name of the mountain behind our home? You guessed it! Fish Mountain, the name of our road. We have a large fire pit and a shed with games, Adirondack chairs, and a charcoal grill you may use during your stay. Hopefully we helped you envision The North Country A-Frame and we hope even more that you enjoy it as much as we do. Thank you for staying with us!
