About this property

La Casita at Quixote Farm

You need a rest. See you soon
Since 2022, Quixote Farm has become a beloved getaway for countless guests who have returned time and again to enjoy the farms uniquely restorative effects. Modeled after a European farmstay, guests love walking in the orange groves, visiting with the rescue animals, shopping in the farmshop, enjoying a beautiful breakfast, (pre-arranged and pre-paid in advance)or taking in our very popular sunset and charcuterie experience. If you are interested, please ask for the menus after you book. Meals and experiences have a limited availablity, and if available, must be pre paid and prearranged a minimum of two weeks in advance. These are add-on, at an extra cost. Please do not ask the night before. We have elderly family members, animals, and a farm that need caring for. We want to care for you! But we need advance notice. Note: European Farmstays are exactly that:
A family farm. Not a 5-star resort.
The space
The cottage has an expansive wrap around deck with outdoor seating, fire table, barbecue and dining for six under a stunning China Berry tree.
Our ranch is in a very remote agricultural community in the foothills of Palomar Mountain overlooking Pauma Valley’s sacred land. The cottage is located at the end of a short dirt road in a peaceful and private spot within our orchard. It is a detached 900 sq foot, 2 bedroom guest house created for short term stays, there are no closets or dressers however, there is under bed storage and behind the door pegs for a few hanging things in both rooms.
The Cottage rests in the middle of our property-between two of our family homes-with quite a lot of space between-you will have plenty of privacy. However, no parties are permitted at any time, and our family does walk around the orchard regularly with our friendly dogs. Since this is a working farm, you may see our workers out and about caring for the orchard, and you may occasionally hear farm, equipment, tractors, etc. We also have a converted barn here on the property, available to rent, just a short walk ftom the cottage
Guest access
Enjoy the Ranch! Its lovely to walk in our gently sloping orchard. A map of the property is provided in the cottage. You will have access to the citrus grove surrounding the cottage, you can say hello to our rescue animals. Please do not feed our animals

PLEASE NOTE: we have a strict no filming/photography policy.

We recommend closed-toed shoes and common sense and alertness for wild animals or reptile activity.
The pool can be reserved During the summer between June through August between 11-1 or 1-4 please let us know your preferred timeslot-please note the pool may be used simultaneously by other guests staying at the farm.
Other things to note
Check in is at 3 pm.
Checkout is 10 am.

We have a firm no filming + photography policy.

Pets are allowed for $65 fee with the understanding that we are up against the Palomar mountain nature preserve where there are many predatory and wild animals
Agritourism was created as a means for the farming industry to offset high costs of running a farm, and to showcase a different way of life. This ranch is our livelihood and we are trying to care for our parents and our family here.

The ranch is remote . There is nothing to do here, and that’s the point. The cottage is ideal for people that want to get away from it all and relax. Some people have booked the cottage as a base for sightseeing in San Diego-we don’t recommend this. Two-lane Highways can mean traffic slow down no matter what time of day-creating a frustrating long commute.
Since this is an organic farm in the country, you may see the occasional ant or bug, or fly.

We are a welcoming ranch.

Lara and Skip are fantastic hosts. The cottage was gorgeous, well kept and very clean. The grounds are filled with fruit trees, beautiful landscaping, and a few friendly animals. We have a new favorite spot.

We loved this spot. Beautiful, peaceful, and comfortable. A great deck for sitting out and enjoying the countryside. I will definitely be recommending it to others who come to visit. Host was responsive and welcoming.

The place couldn’t be more perfect. What a beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing property and cottage! The grill, fire pit and citrus groves added to the loveliness. It was such a treat to taste the lemons, oranges and grapefruit. The amenities, decor and extra touches made it feel incredibly homey and welcoming. The kitchen had plenty of cooking, baking and dish ware. It also had unexpected appliances, like a blender and juicer. It was such a pleasure to prepare meals and drinks in that kitchen. There were extra blankets for cool evenings outside sitting by the fire. The bed was comfortable. The shower water was hot. I didn’t feel like I was missing or need of anything. The best part was communicating with and meeting Lara. She gave a tour of the property, which is bigger than I imagined, and it was a delight talking with her. Even if you don’t have the chance to meet her, you could feel her warmth and care in this place. I was sad to leave. I would love to come back and stay here again.
