Really convenient location close to tons of great hikes, as well as activities in Blue Mountain Lake and Tupper Lake. The cabin was super clean with great views of the lake and the mountains from the screened in porch. We would definitely stay here again.
This cottage exceeded our expectation and is a true gem. It is clean and fresh and nicely furnished and qppointed. I loved the dock for swimming and the outdoor shower. The location is a perfect basecamp for many area activites. We have alredy booked our stay for next year.
Place was everything advertised and more, beautiful location, quiet, comfortable, good fishing right off the dock. Rich was friendly and informative, look forward to returning in the near future!
This was our second time staying at Richard and Hilarie's cottage, and it was just as wonderful the second time as the first. Charming, comfortable accommodations, friendly and responsive hosts, an idyllic location...we'll definitely stay here again!
Beautiful location withthe screened porch overlooking Long lake with easy access to the dock. Friendly and helpful owners.

Loved it! Great stay
The owners were SO accommodating and have the nicest little lakeside cabin. The location truly is amazing. Everything was perfect - especially the views. I will definitely be back.
A small cabin perfect for 2 with beautiful views of the lake and hillsides from the kitchen and porch windows. We look forward to coming back next year.
We loved being right by the lake, with views from the kitchen and the screened-in porch. The host was helpful and friendly. The cottage has everything you could need for a relaxing stay. If you don't already know the area, Long Lake is an authentic not-too-touristy town, within easy reach for visiting the Adirondack Musuem, the Wild Center, Camp Sagamore, and the biking trail between Lake Placid and Lake Saranac. We plan to return. T
A great place to view nature without the bugs of a June rainy season. The screened in porch overlooking the lake was much appreciated as was the responsiveness of our hosts
We have now stayed at Richard and Hillarie's property four or five times, and each time we stay we're just as excited to come back as we were for our first visit. The peaceful Adirondack atmosphere, the perfect location right on the lake, the friendly and welcoming hosts...we couldn't ask for a better experience. We love the Honeymoon Cottage, and can't wait for our stay next year!
This was a fabulous little long lake lodge for a couples getaway - close to great hiking and we launched our kayaks and paddleboards right on the little beach out front. Just can’t say enough about how charming this spot is what a splendid location to watch the sunset and enjoy the morning sky over the lake… hosts were on the property nearby and Very accommodating to any needs ! Would definitely return …
The Honeymoon is a comfortable small cabin on the shores of beautiful Long lake. It is a kayakers dream with access to the lake directly from the cabin beach. We enjoyed the paddling and fishing. The sunsets were beautiful and starry night skies gorgeous! We loved hearing the owls while sitting around the outdoor fire pit. The place to visit for a peaceful and relaxing get away!
This sweet cabin is as advertised. It sits right on the ridge beside the lake - beautiful views. We brought groceries and our kayaks - we didn't get in our car until it was time to go home. Couldn't have been a better experience.
The cottage is located in a grove of tall pines overlooking Long Lake, with great views from a large picture window and from the screened in porch. It was very quiet and felt very private. The cottage itself was clean and well furnished, including a stove that added charm and helped keep us comfortable on cooler nites. The bathroom has a deep tub/shower that is perfect for a relaxing soak or one may choose to use the outdoor shower. Richard and Hillarie were wonderful hosts and were available to take care of any of our needs, doing so in a non-intrusive way. We look forward to staying at this property during our next trip to the Adirondaks.
The screened in porch is heavenly, overlooking Long Lake and the loons. The owner greeted us and he was very welcoming. He assured us he was nearby if we needed anything but everything was just great. We picked a winner. Thanks so much.
This property is a gem. It has everything you need, and nothing you don't. The view alone was worth the stay. I enjoyed watching the rain roll through from the sleeping porch and relaxing in the sunshine on the beach and dock. This was a perfect spot to take out our canoe and SUP. Everything was very clean. We had our two year old son with us and he loved playing in the woods next to the property. He also loved Richard's golf cart :-)
Richard was communicative, friendly and helpful.
The Honeymoon cottage is exactly as pictured and described on VRBO. The screened-in porch, outdoor shower, private dock and sandy beach were excellent. I kinda want to keep this place a secret so we can get the dates we want for next year. Richard gave us a bottle of wine since he had a repairman in for the kitchen stove for an hour! Great guy. Swimming was great. From the dock and cottage you look across the lake at what must be state park land...no development. This is a great charming cabin for two.

September Stay at the Honeymoon Cottage
Although the trees were beginning to turn color, we missed the peak by a week or two. Nonetheless, the setting of the Honeymoon Cottage on Long Lake is spectacular!
We hiked Owl's Mountain, Castle Rock, Coney, and Goodnow. The views of the lakes and the far peaks are breathtaking. We visited the Museum of the Adirondacks and the Wild Center. Both are excellent. We rented a canoe and went on a 6 mile paddle on Long Lake.
The accommodations at the Honeymoon Cottage are romantically rustic and were perfect for the two of us. However, the kitchen is a bit limited and space for your groceries is small. Richard is a gracious host.
We definitely recommend the Honeymoon Cottage!

Cosy cottage with fantastic view
The cottage itself is meant for two adults, although a third person could sleep on the couch. I wouldn't recommend it though as it can be a bit uncomfortable.
Kitchen and bathroom are adequate, and there is an open balcony from which you can take in the best part which is the great view overlooking the lake.
Be aware of blackfly season in the mountains (typically from mid-May to mid-June) as a lot of the attractions in the area are plagued by swarms of these pesky insects.
The hosts are fantastic and go out of their way to be helpful. Internet connection is slow but will be upgraded sometime in summer 2014 to a FIBRE OPTIC connection :)

A Perfect Little Cottage on the Lake!
We had a wonderful time at the Honeymoon cottage. The cottage is just the right size for a couple and it oozes old world Adirondack charm, from the wood paneling to the cozy and comfortable furnishings. The views are spectacular from just about every vantage point—from the dock and outside sitting areas when the weather permits, and from the enclosed deck and kitchen when it does not. Richard and Hillarie are wonderful hosts, ready and willing to answer any questions about the area and very responsive to any issues that may arise. At one point during our stay there was a problem with the hot water tank; not only did they get the ball rolling for an immediate fix but told us when they were coming, what was going to happen, and how long it would take. Their goal was to be accommodating and responsive, but at the same time as un-intrusive as possible. We highly recommend this beautiful little cottage, and can’t wait to return!
And that outdoor shower is just about the best thing in the whole world.

This is the perfect place if you like things a little rustic yet oh so comfortable. Amazing!
This lovely little cottage was just the right size for me, my wife, and our son. It's so close to the water. From the screened porch you feel like you are floating over Long Lake. The water access is safe for kids too. A deck you can do canonballs from, but also a beach with shallow water for those who prefer to wade.
The inside is covered with lovely wooden wainscoting. A lovely little kitchen with all the basics and the most amazing view of the lake. A cozy gas stove in the living room for cold nights. A beautiful bathroom with an enclosed tub and a bonus outdoor shower (with hot water).
Outside there is plenty of space with a picnic table, fire pit, and a hammock. Great place to hang out and just take it all in.
Richard came by to greet us and make sure we were all set. He lives nearby, but gave us total privacy.
If I have to say anything slightly negative...although maybe it's just because I'm old...the futon in the living room is pretty hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. The queen bed in the main bedroom is excellent. Just something to be aware of.
Thank you Richard and Hillarie for the wonderful experience!

Great experience!
This cabin was everything I was looking for! My six year old daughter and I stayed there for just under a week. The cabin is well maintained as is the beach area. Richard was a great, down to earth kind of person. He was easy to talk to and was respectful of trying to create that perfect balance between being friendly, while also giving me and my daughter our own space. Some people shy away from staying at cabins where the owners are on site, but this should not be a deterrent for his cabin! They are friendly, courteous and truly respectful of what you came to the Adirondacks for.
The cabin was perfect in every way. It is much bigger than the pictures online make you think. The outdoor shower is well built and designed. It was great to be able to use it to wash the sand off our bodies after a day on the lake. When I read about the outdoor shower online I pictured a shower head coming out of the side of the cabin, with no privacy, but it is an actual stall with a floor and a door.
My favorite part about the cabin was the enclosed front porch. The Adirondack chairs on it are comfortable and situated so you can drink your coffee in the morning and look out over the lake. The morning and late evenings on the porch brought me great solitude. Hearing the loons late at night or early in the morning was a special treat and brought back great memories for me. There is a fire ring and we had a fire almost every night.
The cabin is located on Long Lake so you can do day trips in your own canoe to the Buttermilk Falls carry, the town of Long Lake, or to Big Brook. Coney Mountain has a beautiful view at top and was a great hike for me and my six year old daughter. There is so much to do and appreciate in the area.
I would definitely return again to spend time at this cabin. My experience was excellent and exactly what I was looking for and needed.
