About this property

The Lodge · Walk to JT Park, Hot Tub, Cowboy Tub

Summary:

The Lodge sits right against the border of Joshua Tree National Park, with the Black Rock Canyon trailheads in walking reach. Designed by Barrie Livingstone, it is big and modern with a lodge's heart: giant windows on fields of Joshua trees, a two-story stone fireplace, two living rooms. Hike out early, swim laps in the 10-person swim-style hot tub, take the seasonal cowboy tub (closed November through March), then pull a red Adirondack chair to the fire pit. Five bedrooms, all quiet.

Excess noise can result in fines and the termination of your reservation without refund.

-The Space-

The Lodge at Blackrock is a large, modern lodge-style home designed by interior designer Barrie Livingstone, directly across the street from Joshua Tree National Park near the Black Rock entrance. Tall cypress trees frame the front, giant windows look out on mountains and fields of Joshua trees, and inside, a two-story stone fireplace, teal velvet and mustard swivel chairs give it warmth. Two living rooms give the group room to spread out. A king primary suite, three queen rooms upstairs and a downstairs room with a twin and trundle make five bedrooms for up to ten, a natural fit for families and groups looking for a quiet base for the park.

-Highlights-

► Walking access to the Black Rock Canyon trailheads

► 10-person swim-style hot tub that also works for swimming laps

► 10-foot cowboy tub (not an in-ground pool), unavailable November through March

► Propane fire pit, hammocks and a propane BBQ

► Ping pong, Giant Jenga, cornhole and badminton

► Two-story stone wood-burning fireplace and a pellet stove

► Two living rooms and a formal dining room

► Smart TVs in the second living room and primary bedroom

► Coffee station with Joshua Tree Coffee Company whole bean coffee

► Yoga mats, board games and books

► Mountain and Joshua tree views

► Wi-Fi and a dedicated workspace

-Outdoor Amenities-

Lace up early and walk to the Black Rock Canyon trailheads, then come back to the swim-style hot tub under its pergola. It fits groups of ten for a soak and doubles as an endless pool, so someone can swim laps while the rest of the group warms up. In the warm months, the galvanized 10-foot cowboy tub sits out among the Joshua trees for a cool dip; it is not an in-ground pool and is closed November through March.

Under the covered porch, string lights hang over a long wood dining table and the ping pong table, with Giant Jenga, cornhole and badminton for the yard and yoga mats for a morning stretch. Fire up the propane BBQ for dinner, then circle the red Adirondack chairs around the propane fire pit or settle into a hammock as the yard lights come on and the stars fill in.

-Living Area-

The main living room centers on a giant two-story stone wood-burning fireplace and opens to the formal dining room, with giant windows bringing in light and views. Build a fire after the hike, pull a mustard swivel chair close and let the conversation run. The second living room has a large smart TV, teal swivel chairs and a pellet stove, and opens to a dining nook and the kitchen, the easy spot for a movie. Board games and books are on hand, and an upstairs balcony looks out to the mountains.

-Kitchen and Dining-

The fully stocked kitchen has navy cabinets, butcher-block counters, a mosaic tile backsplash and an island with stools, plus the cookware for group meals and spices, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Grind fresh beans at the coffee station, with a drip coffee maker, a French press, Joshua Tree Coffee Company whole bean coffee, sugars and creamer, and take your cup to the round table by the patio doors. Bigger meals move to the formal dining room beneath its sputnik light, or out to the porch table.

-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

The primary bedroom has a king bed with a teal tufted headboard, a vaulted window, a smart TV and an ensuite bathroom with a hex-tile shower, a double vanity and a black freestanding soaking tub, made for a long bath after the trail. Three more bedrooms upstairs each have a queen bed and share a bathroom down the hall. The fifth bedroom, downstairs, has a twin daybed with a pull-out twin trundle, and there is a half bathroom downstairs as well.

-Surrounding Area-

The Lodge is across the street from Joshua Tree National Park, and the Black Rock Canyon Campground and trailheads can be reached on foot, with hiking and rock climbing all around. Old Town Yucca Valley and downtown Joshua Tree cover dinners and supplies.

This property was very spacious, clean, private and quiet. No ambient sound. Being close to the National Park made it easy to make full days of activities. Area restaurants were great. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Highly recommend, especially if you are in need of peace and quiet.
Stargazing in the back yard. Amazing!
Hammocks were a great aid to stargazing.

Amazing location and fantastic home

The location of this home is amazing, being near Joshua Tree and right across the street from hiking. The home is as nice as portrayed in the ad, with plenty of space for a variety of activities. The home is well equipped and very nicely decorated. We didn't experience any issues with the home during our stay and the owners were quick to respond and easy to communicate with.
