This is the third time we have stayed at this house and we enjoy it every time. We love being able to spend time with our family up north. Thank you for letting us enjoy your home.
Lovely home equipped with everything for a comfortable stay. Scenic views of the river from the deck. Private and quiet location. Highly recommend this property.
We really enjoyed our stay. The spacious lot allowed plenty of room for out door activities and games. The deck was good size and the beds were comfortable. Would recommend to anyone.
This is a very nice home on the river. The beds were incredibly comfortable! The owner is extremely responsive and helpful throughout if you need anything. Highly recommended.

First vacation home rental
This was our first experience renting a vacation home and we were very pleased. The place lived up to the expectations set in the ad and the hosts were great. Will definitely do this again.

The house was a relaxing and well-stocked home base for our siblings weekend. The kitchen and dining room were our hub. The bedroom set up worked perfectly for us to all have our own spaces and re appreciated the nice bathrooms. Loved the fire pit and stargazing at night.
star gazing at night.

Girls weekend Kayaking on the Rock River . Large house, comfy beds great outdoor space in a rural setting Highly recommend the Rock River for kayaking with White Pelican in Oregon IL too
A great stay for a girl’s weekend. Did a float on the Rock River (boat landing only 3 minutes away) and played games on the porch, enjoying the beautiful view and sunset. Kitchen stocked with plenty of towels, knives, bowls, can opener, etc. Would book here again for next summer’s weekend.
Very relaxing place during a very stressful and emotional time. Rented for my family to be together during my father's funeral. Would highly recommend also as a great vacation place. I would like to go back with my family to spend more time and explore the area more.
Thank you so much for the wonderful home you provided for us! The proteas very clean and comfortable. Beds were amazing! We had plenty of room for 10 adults and 2 babies. We were very comfortable. Enjoyed our stay and
had room to have family that lives in town over. Thank you again!
Rock River Rental is a very clean, comfortable and spacious home. Lots of space for everyone (inside and out) and just about everything you could need to make your stay great. Nick is a great host and was very prompt in responding to all inquiries.
Can't say enough about the surrounding area. A few state parks and forests are within a 15 minute drive. The Rock River is just outside the house. Great place to relax and spend some time in nature.
Would gladly stay here again.
This is a nice house for a retreat. The layout is great in terms of everyone having their own space. The one *tiny* note that isn't obvious in the pictures is that there isn't anyplace inside where you can really sit and look at the river view - you need to be outside, which (because we went in June) was super buggy. Not a huge deal - just something to know! Otherwise was a nice visit.
Five family members from Chicago, Iowa and Nebraska for a 4-day reunion and early thanksgiving. The property is as pictured and described - plenty of indoor and outdoor gathering or reading space, wonderful fire pit and patio overlooking the Rock River, a particularly well appointed and stocked kitchen, great bedding and baths and a quiet, private setting just south of Castle Rock State Park. The local market was unusually well stocked for a small town grocery store and the town generally had all the amenities we could use. Plenty of nearby hiking trails (closed our weekend for deer hunting season). We'll plan to return.
We were visiting Grand Detour to celebrate our sons engagement and were delighted to find this home in Oregon only 10 minutes away from the festivities! The deck overlooking Rock Lake was a wonderful place to start every morning with a cup of coffee and the family room with comfortable and plentiful couches was a relaxing place to unwind after a day on the river. Thanks to Nick for detailed directions from Chicago and his quick response to our thermostat assistance! We appreciated all the amenities this home had to offer.
Our stay was very pleasant but was dismayed at the width of the bathroom doors! I had a stroke in May and need a walker to get around. Needless to say I couldn’t go into either bathroom with my walker. The house was well equipped.
