Originally from Ontario, I moved to Victoria over 20 years ago to enjoy fresh coastal experiences, in your face nature and hiking, camping and travel adventures.
Why they chose this property
James Bay includes some of Victoria’s biggest attractions - the BC legislature buildings, the Royal BC Museum (with IMAX screen), Emily Carr house and the inner harbour.
Fisherman’s Wharf is around the corner - Colourful floating homes, food stands and restaurants, kayak rentals and fishing boats make this a lively spot. The Victoria Harbour Ferry stops here and takes you to various points around the inner harbour. It’s a great way to see the sights.
James Bay village area (Menzies and Simcoe) has several delightful cafes, restaurants that include Thai, Middle Eastern and Indian and a traditional pub in an 1880’s building. Two grocery stores are located in/near the village area: Thrifty Foods and Red Barn Market.
Located at the end of our street (Montreal Street) is the Victoria Breakwater walkway, which extends into the Juan de Fuca strait offering stunning views of the Olympic mountains and the cruise ships (in season). This is one of the most famous sunset spots in the city, and not to be missed. You can also enjoy the ice cream shop or a local brew at the breakwater bistro.
A 15 minute walk brings you to downtown Victoria, and the sights and gardens of the Empress Hotel.
