About this property

Charming Private Cottage in Southern Oregon Close to I-5 & NO surprise fees

Stay in your private guesthouse in Myrtle Creek, Oregon just steps away from the 18-hole world-class Myrtle Creek Golf Club.

Conveniently located just 1.8 miles from EXIT 108 on I-5 in South Douglas County.

The 600-square foot guesthouse has hardwood floors throughout that were reclaimed from a local high school gymnasium. The previous owner was an interior designer who put all her heart into the property after the loss of the love of her life.

On-street parking. Private entrance. Scenic views all around.

Our property has quite a few stairs. Please review our property photos.

You may use the entire cottage and its yard. You'll park in front of the main house, then walk down the stairs to the cottage.

PRIVACY: the cottage can only be seen from the Golf Course Club House and the deck of the main house. See photo in listing.

NATURE at your doorstep: On our property we have deer, (we have a doe that usually beds down with her fawns under the cedars just outside your living room window), raccoons, opossums, fox, the occasional skunk and there is a trail that the nutria take from the wetlands area between the cottage and the golf course that ends in your front yard. The frogs will serenade you in the evening during certain times of the year and the stars are bright.

Birds are plentiful, from hummingbirds to Canada geese. We have hawks, falcons, all number of small birds and lots of wild turkeys.

AMENITIES: Free Internet access - WiFi and Ethernet, streaming video, refrigerator (not tiny, but apartment-sized), microwave, induction cook top with all pots, pans and utensils. Toaster oven and grill on request!

DECOR: The cottage was built with a very country / farmhouse style. It has dutch doors, reclaimed gymnasium hardwood floors throughout, vaulted ceilings. There are cool stories behind everything inside.

Sleeping arrangements: The cottage is ideal for 1 or 2 guests ( a couple) as there is only one bed (Queen).

The bathroom has a shower. It does not have a bathtub.

We are situated at the end of a cul-de-sac on a short street. Our neighbors are nice! Since you'll be staying on the south side of the property, the only interaction you'd have with the neighbors would be when you come and go, as the parking is in front of the main house.

Please do not smoke or vape anything in or near the cottage. If smoking of any kind has occurred, we must do a complete deep clean as we are a smoke-free facility. This will incur a $250 charge for your group. Thank you for understanding.

If you are golfing for your stay, no vehicle necessary! The golf course is literally next-door. For everything else, a car is needed. There are plenty of walking options if you're into nature walks, but to get to restaurants and venues, you will need a vehicle. We'll provide a local map if you need one :)

2018 was our first year hosting travelers. We hope to make your stay comfortable and memorable! We love people and are friendly. However, we will respect your privacy at all times! On the other hand, if you'd like to share a cup of coffee sometime, come on up and say hello :)

ABOUT THE TOWN: Myrtle Creek has a motto: "Where nature is your neighbor." The town is nestled in one of Douglas County's more beautiful valleys right on the South Umpqua riverbank. It is also is known as "The gateway to the 100 valleys of the Umpqua". It is a small, friendly community with small town appeal, but also modern with the times.

A quiet spot to rest
We stopped for only one night as we drove up the west coast. We have two large breed dogs - which the owner graciously allowed! The cottage is behind the main home and down a very well maintained and lit set of stairs; because it's down a bit it feels very private from the main house. Lots of nice big windows and a view to the golf course beyond. Plenty of room inside for us to relax and catch up on work emails, watch some TV, and fall asleep to the lovely sounds of frogs outside - not something we get a lot of in our daily routine! The town does roll up the sidewalks early particularly in the winter season, but we took advantage of some recommendations in the welcome binder and got ourselves a nice dinner-to-go from the local diner. Would recommend to anyone wanting some quiet downtime, or looking for an alternative to the off-the-highway hotel options that usually come with a road trip. Thank you!!

Charming Cottage
This is a sweet little cottage in a charming setting. This morning we saw 9 wild turkeys and several deer. The cottage is well appointed and very comfortable. It is very quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend to all who might pass this way!

Quaint and convenient
I booked this place because it allowed dogs and was close to my parents home. It was perfect and exactly as described. It was bigger than i expected as well. The host, Anya, was so nice and accommodating. The only things that would make it better would be a small stove and more cabinet space for groceries. I would definitely stay here again though.

KEN:

Hi, I'm married to Anya, my co-host and my wife of 25 years.

I am an instructor for Umpqua Community College Truck School.

I enjoy the quiet and slow pace of our little community as well as photography, reading, and volunteering in the community.

Why they chose this property

We were looking to slow our pace of life down. Friends of ours lived here, and we came to visit.

We instantly loved it as we exitied the freeway and saw the Myrtle Creek Bridge spanning the South Umpqua River.

It is definitely small town living, however the nearest "big" town is just 15-20 minutes north - Roseburg. Why, it took us that long to go shopping in San Diego, with all of the stop lights and traffic! A leisurely mountain drive is much preferred.

We love it here and regret NOTHING!

What makes this property unique

We know you'll love it here. Artists and writers have come for the quiet. Families have come to visit their local relatives. We've had traveling nurses and lovely new residents coming to stay while their new home is in escrow.

We have some beautiful reviews you're welcome to look through. People love being able to relax in the quiet, peek out the window and see the deer, or take a short walk to one of Oregon's covered bridges, the Neal Lane Bridge.

Of course, if you like to golf, you can walk next door and enjoy Myrtle Creek's 18-hole world-class golf course. The course is stunning, and climbs up into the hills, has ponds, and spans the creek. Crossing Days Creek Cutoff Rd, when you get to the top of the course, wait until you see the view of the valley!

Pets are welcome here on approval, and there's plenty of places to walk your dog.

For chemically sensitive individuals, we are happy to tell you that we only use fragrance-free laundry detergent.

There are so many unique benefits to staying here. In fact, you might not ever want to leave!
