COZY STREAM-SIDE CABIN CENTRALLY LOCATED IN THE NORTHERN BLACK HILLS
Nestled in the heart of the Black Hills, this cozy cabin is the perfect place to unplug and unwind. Enjoy beautiful mountain scenery with family and friends on the expansive wraparound deck, perfect for a slow morning with coffee or a quiet summer night. With a babbling stream outside your door, surrounded by lush pine forest, and a toasty living room fireplace, you may never feel the need to leave. But if you do decide to venture out, you’ll be less than 20 minutes from some of the state’s best attractions, including ski slopes at Terry Peak, mountain hikes in Spearfish Canyon, and the steakhouses, saloons and museums of historic downtown Deadwood.
-The cabin property includes one bedroom with a full-sized bed that can accommodate a couple. -There is also snug loft space with a queen mattress tucked away under a locally sourced wood ceiling – perfect for a couple pre-teens, teens, or adventurous adults. - and a newly-finished bunkhouse with a queen-sized bed under a lofted twin approximately 20 yards from the main cabin. Guests are welcome to use the bunkhouse to sleep a number of people beyond what the cabin can accommodate. There will be a $45 fee charged to cover the cost of additional cleaning and laundry as well as heating the building for use. To avoid the user fee, do not enter the bunkhouse.

Guests are welcome to use the wood-burning fireplace. The fee of $25 is used to cover the cost of fireplace maintenance, cleaning and wood. Guests will need to visit with the host either by phone or in person when they get on-property prior to using the fireplace. There is parking for several vehicles. The area is large enough to park a towing vehicle and attached trailer. Experienced motorcyclists will have no problem accessing the home via well-maintained gravel roads. The cabin is located just a few miles from Spearfish, Sturgis, Deadwood, Lead, and Central City.

Dwayne was a fantastic host. Was always available for questions and made the entire process very easy. Even let us check in early which made our lives so much easier.
This was our 2nd time staying here and we will be back again and again! My family loves this cabin, the location, the view, and everything about it! Love the ease of check in we could do independently. Noticed right away on arrival and entering that it was very clean and well maintained with a personal touch inside and out. Beautiful cabin with a babbling brook that ran along entire front of cabin. Loved sitting on deck enjoying the sounds. Everything we needed including ample towels and blankets. Surprised that we had large selection of tv stations. Appreciated the land line in case of emergency. Warm lighting all along deck and motion light at entrance. Very safe and tucked away from the busy tourism but close enough to get to everything the black hills has to offer!
Cozy clean cabin situated in idyllic setting next to a babbling brook & amongst abundant wildlife. The property contained everything imaginable to make our stay enjoyable & memorable.
We stayed in this beautiful cabin for a weekend! It was the perfect place to stay for my familySo relaxing sitting on the deck watching the kids play in the water every thing was fantastic
Outstanding! Dwayne kept in contact with us, including giving us helpful advice regarding our vacation. The cabin was immaculate. Lovely furnishings. Outdoor deck overlooking a babbling stream. This cabin was everything we could have asked for and more! *****
Excellent property! We had a relatively large group with 4 adults & 4 kids and everyone enjoyed themselves. We all played in the creek and took advantage of the lack of cell service to really unplug. Perfect spot if you enjoy privacy, nature and homey comforts. Host is top notch as well. I'll definitely be back to this location.
We absolutely loved the location of this property. Who knew South Dakota was this amazing? I watched the turkeys come down fm roost in the morning. I stopped my car as the deer claimed the roads, I was in awe watching the mountain goats nearby, freely grazing. And the views?? UNBELIEVABLE. I get emotional exploring the beauty of our great Country. The memories of this area i will cherish. This jem was great for us and the hosts were amazing. Thanks for sharing your sweet place with us.
We were in spearfish for the BHSU basketball camp for our boys and we stayed here and it is its own little piece of heaven in the mountains. Dewayne was great with communication and the cabin was everything we expected. When we come back this is where we will stay.
The beds weren't comfortable at all. Nobody got very much rest. Everything else was absolutely wonderful.

Thank you for choosing Maitland Legacy for your rally trip lodging. I'm sorry the sleeping arrangements did not meet your expectations. I do not discount your comments, but rather take them to heart and hope to improve as necessary. When it comes to beds, I remain confused. Some report them as too soft and others too hard. Most do not say anything. I've sorta come to the conclusion that we are fortunate to have guests who have the resources to purchase beds for their homes that are best for their needs and those we provide don't match what they are used to. Sorry for any discomfort you may have experienced. Safe travels home.
If what you are looking for is calm, quiet, peaceful serenity. You will have it here! Adventure, exploration, hiking? All within a short drive. We did a hike every day, only to come ‘home’ to a beautiful afternoon/evening spent on the deck, staring at & listening to the stream. This is absolutely one our top 3 vacations and certainly one of the most beautiful properties we’ve ever stayed at. Had the pleasure of meeting our host by chance and Dwayne is absolutely a great guy. Super clean. Clearly well cared for & loved home/property. We would stay here again in a minute.
Excellent and clean hide-away cabin with a stream literally right out front! Very quiet and cozy for anyone looking for solitude in nature. Cabin was perfect inside and out. Dwayne was very informative and friendly for helping me figure out the area. Recommend for everyone!
Loved the cabin. It was located fairly centrally to the sites we wanted to see. It was well kept, peaceful area with a mountain stream.

About the host
Hosted by Maitland Legacy LLC
The property is co-owned by two families who wanted to acquire a vacation property to be used by the owners as much as the rental obligations would allow and also to provide a "legacy" for our children who have been life-long friends to enjoy in the future. We wish to share the good fortune of finding our cabin with others who may at some point share a similar dream.
We manage our own property so we might have more direct contact and better communication with our guests.
Why they chose this property
Our families have had years of ties to the Northern Black Hills of South Dakota. We have all vacationed, worked, volunteered and attended college here at various times in our lives.
What makes this property unique
The cabin loft (queen mattress) provides a neat place for younger guests to hold up in their own space while still feeling a part of the activities in the cabin. The recently finished bunkhouse (queen bed with lofted twin bed above) provides more privacy a few yards from the main cabin. There is a $45 additional fee for using the bunkhouse.
