About this property

Charming 3-bedroom cabin nestled in the heart of the Adirondack Park

Come stay at our charming four-season log cabin, nestled just 15 minutes from the heart of the Adirondack Park. This cherished family camp offers tranquility while being perfectly situated near lakes, rivers, and mountains. Its central location allows for easy day trips to Lake Placid's Olympic venues, Gore Mountain, or the iconic 46 High Peaks. With its cozy, rustic Adirondack charm, our cabin is the perfect escape for adventurers and those seeking peace alike.

When you walk through the front door, you will be greeted with an open concept main floor with tall ceilings with the kitchen and dining table to the right and the living room to the left. The lower level also contains 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed, a full bathroom with a tub, and the shining star of our property - the screened in porch. Up the stairs you will find the third bedroom which has 2 double beds in it and another full bathroom with a small shower. We feel the house can sleep 8 adults, but 6 may be more comfortable given that 2 of the beds are double beds. Outside on the front porch there is a picnic table and Adirondack chairs to lounge in.

The driveway can fit 4 cars, and guests are welcome to park on the grass to the left of the driveway to make more space. If you do that, park head in, front facing towards the tree line. We do not recommend parking on the street. This property does not have lake access. There is also no public lake access on our road. The road ends with several private properties. Public lake access is available at the Indian Lake Public Beach, Marina, or Boat Launch all just minutes away.

Guests will have access to the entire property except for the shed and the pantry next to the kitchen.

Sound travels dramatically in this area and we have many neighbors who reside full time. Our other neighbors are members of our family. Have fun but be respectful.

If you shut the outdoor lights off, you will likely have really nice star gazing opportunities.

Most of the home (the living room, stairs, and all the bedrooms) have carpeted flooring. The bathrooms, kitchen, and screened in porch do not.

You'll be staying in someone's home, so please treat it with care and respect. We love renting this house, because we feel it’s really important for everyone to enjoy as much time as they can in nature. This has been such a special place for us to connect with the lakes, rivers, and mountains that surround it and we would like for us and our family to continue to enjoy it. Please treat our home with care.

Rules:

- Sorry, no first time renters. You must have at least 2 great reviews.

- As stated in the Property Description, there is no public access to the lake from our road. If you walk to the end of the road and find yourself at water, you are trespassing on our neighbors property.

- As stated in the listing, the shed is off limits unless you fill a full garage bag and need a place to leave it before you check out - there's a trash can in the shed to leave it, or if you would like to use the grill. Additionally, recycling can be left in the shed upon check out.

- Do not set hot pots/pans on the table or countertop without a pot holder underneath

- Do not leave outside lights on overnight

- Do not leave any food or trash outside or in the screened in porch. Bears are commonly spotted in this area

- Please be mindful that we have mostly carpeted floors inside. We often leave our shoes outside on the porch, but we ask that you are mindful of tracking dirty or wet shoes through the house.

- This is not a suitable house for parties as there are full time neighbors who live close by. Nature and wildlife are abundant in this area and we do not want them or our neighbors to be disturbed.

- Absolutely no smoking or vaping inside the premises of the home or the porch. We would prefer no smoking all together as we have a zero tolerance for cigar/cigarette butts left around. We will charge an additional cleaning fee if it is discovered this rule was broken.

- While we love animals, we cannot allow pets into our home at this time. The owners and members of their family are highly allergic to animals and we have carpeted floors throughout most of the home that lock in pet oder, dander, and fur. We will charge an additional cleaning fee if it is discovered this rule was broken as we will need to hire a professional to deep clean and sterilize.

- Take it inside at 11pm. The sound travels and it's a very peaceful area. The biggest complaint people have with short term rentals is that renters don’t understand how the sound travels so loudly. So just bring the festivities inside at 11 and everybody is happy. Having said that, you do not have to be church mice. We want you to have fun but remember loud yelling, talking, or music travels further than you think.

- We ask that you are out by 11 am and check-in is at 3pm. We will always try to work with you if you need different times, but we cannot guarantee it.

We do not have any security cameras in the house. We just have the Ring Doorbell Camera at the front door, and a Floodlight camera overlooking the driveway.

About the host

My name is Candace, originally from the Saratoga Springs area and I love to travel and meet new people along the way! My favorite travel destinations are ones where we can kick back and relax on a lake or places with great hikes, site seeing, and activities! My listing in Indian Lake is cohosted with my husband, Eric. We love getting to share the Adirondacks with others!

Why they chose this property

My family has owed a camp in the Adirondacks for one hundred years. In the last 2 decades, we started a week long camping trip/family reunion at Lewey Lake. Having our camp so close by has helped tremendously with our family camping trips. My husband and I bought this camp from my aunt because we love everything about being in Indian Lake. It's a charming, close knit town with so many activities and you cannot beat the access to lakes and mountains. We hope to continue enjoying our Indian Lake camp for more decades to come.

What makes this property unique

Our camp feels like a home. You walk in the door and you feel an immediate sense of comfort and peace.
