Yamlak was wonderful and very helpful in figuring out the logistics for the VRBO. We would love to find a way to stay at his place again the next time that we stay in D.C!
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property. It was exactly as described in the listing and beautifully appointed. The location was very convenient, just a few blocks from a metro stop. The host was very responsive to any questions I had and truly cared about insuring we had a pleasant stay. The rooftop deck was a nice spot to relax in the late afternoon.

About the host
Hosted by Yamlak Jerusalem
I have always believed that where you stay shapes how you experience a city. I have traveled extensively across the United States, explored more than forty states, and road tripped through Europe from Germany to Italy. Living in Ethiopia, Italy, and several U.S. states has given me a deep appreciation for thoughtful design, cultural detail, and meaningful hospitality. Today I call Washington, DC home.
Professionally, I work in project management supporting government initiatives. Precision, organization, and attention to detail are part of my everyday life, and those same standards carry into how I host.
Hosting allows me to combine my love for travel, architecture, and design with creating memorable experiences for others. I believe in boutique, design-focused stays that feel intentional and elevated. You can expect clear communication, a beautifully prepared home, and a calm, refined atmosphere throughout your stay.
What I love most about DC is its energy. You can walk from historic neighborhoods to vibrant restaurants, from quiet tree-lined streets to world-class museums within minutes. I especially enjoy early morning walks around the monuments and hiking in nearby trails when I need a reset.
My hosting philosophy is simple: quality over quantity. I focus on creating a polished, peaceful space where guests feel respected, comfortable, and genuinely cared for.
Why they chose this property
I chose this neighborhood because it captures the energy of DC while still feeling residential and walkable. You’re just a short walk to the Columbia Heights Metro, which makes getting to downtown, the National Mall, museums, and monuments incredibly easy. At the same time, you’re surrounded by local restaurants, cafés, grocery stores, and historic row homes that give the area real character.
What I love most is that you can explore all day and still come back to a quieter street to relax. It feels connected to everything without feeling hectic.
What makes this property unique
District Gojo A offers a rare combination of historic character and modern comfort in one private upper-level residence. The exposed brick, hardwood floors, and natural light create warmth and architectural interest that is hard to find in standard rentals.
Unlike many DC properties, this home includes a private rooftop terrace and a main-level balcony, giving guests valuable outdoor space in the city.
The layout provides privacy with three full bathrooms, including two en suite bathrooms with rainfall walk-in showers. The loft adds flexible space for work or an additional guest.
The home also features 1 Gig high-speed internet, multiple large Smart TVs, and a fully stocked kitchen with three coffee brewing options, making it well suited for both short getaways and longer stays.
Residential street parking permits are available upon request, which is rare in this part of DC.
Thoughtfully prepared, design-forward, and well equipped, this residence is ideal for guests who value comfort, privacy, and location.
