About this property
Elegant village house with roof terrace
Our home - Au Coin des Amis - is just this side of heaven - a fabulous home located in a Provencal village in the Luberon Valley - the most beautiful area of all of Provence - halfway between Avignon and Aix-en-Provence.
The 190 sm / 2000 sq ft home was previously owned by an artist and elegantly restored in 2010. Provencal charm and architectural detail (wood beams, portes anciennes) throughout .... combined with modern and stylish bathrooms, kitchen and living spaces. The home was furnished in 2011, including all new household appliances. We are cooks and enjoy entertaining - so you will find the kitchen to be fully equipped. Enjoy a glass of wine on the rooftop terrace or host an intimate soiree in the stone wine cellar!
There are 3 luxurious bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The master bedroom and bathroom on the top floor is air-conditioned - the lower floors aren't but the thick walls and tiled floors mean it isn't really needed - although there are portable fans for very hot days.
Not that you will want to leave "Au Coin des Amis", but just in case there are many nearby villages and things to explore. Head over to Chateauneuf-du-Pape region for wine-tasting, hike incredible trails in the ocre formations, meander in the daily local markets, explore stunning hilltop villages, take a cooking course -- all within a short distance. (We will send you a guide book to all our local favorites after you book so you'll have the "insiders" view.)
This is a beloved home, so we are keen to know who you are, what brings you to Provence, and your interests so we can make recommendations and ensure you have a memorable visit. Please let us tell us about yourself when you inquire about booking our home!
Check in is after 4 p.m. and check out by 11 a.m.
All linens, towels, etc. provided. This is a second home, so all the closets, etc. are free of "other people's stuff" ... and you will find it as cozy and comfortable as if your own home!
We live in San Francisco, so regrettably not able to welcome you in person. However, our local English-speaking home managers will be on hand to help you out with any questions or problems during your stay.
We love our Provencal village! It is the "real" Provence with friendly people, kids playing in the square, petanque being played in the evenings, hiking nearby. Rustrel is spared the maddening crush of tourists, yet is a short drive to all the magical hilltop villages, markets, sights, and restaurants.
Provence is not known for its public transportation. You will need to hire a car.

About the host
Hosted by Jen Mallon

We're Beth & Tom who live mostly in San Francisco and spend as much time as we can in Provence. Beth returned to the States in 2012 after 5 fantastic years living and working in Copenhagen, Denmark. We both spent our childhoods living abroad and met at Duke University (many) years ago as undergraduates.
We have our home in France listed here on VRBO and a private flat in San Francisco listed on Airbnb.
We bought our home in France a few years ago and love the fabulous Luberon Valley area of Provence - markets, hiking, festivals, vineyards, hilltop villages. You won't be disappointed and you won't want to leave!
We like to know who our guests are and what interests them. So when making an inquiry or booking, let us know about who you are!

Why they chose this property
We bought our home after a month long trip to the region in 2010 and have not one regret! Rustrel is a most charming village - the villagers young and old gather on summer nights in the square to listen to music and dance, there is fantastic hiking nearby, and on any given day there is a lively petanque game taking place. It is the 'real' way of life in Provence - friendly, sunny, and easy going.
What makes this property unique
Our home is located in an authentic Provencal village - close by to everything, yet unspoilt by busloads of tourists and traffic. The home was renovated with detail to retaining Provencal charm and features, yet upgrading to modern conveniences. The bathrooms are modern with luxury fixtures (rainshowers, soaking tub, etc.) and the kitchen is fully equipped for cooks. Throw open the windows, soak in the sunshine and enjoy our wonderful home.
