Located in the basement suite of a historic farmhouse in West Salem, this beautiful private apartment, with a private entrance, offers a serene retreat for guests seeking comfort and simplicity. The space features one cozy bedroom with a queen bed, a living room, kitchenette, bathroom and a laundry room. This is perfect for a restful night, or a quiet vacation. A clean, tranquil bathroom includes a refreshing shower and a hair dryer for convenience. Guests can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind after a day of exploring. Whether you're here for work or relaxation, this studio provides a lovely home base. We hope you enjoy what our place and Salem have to offer. This home was once a historic orchard farm that has a garden, chickens, and an on site farm stand that is open during spring and summer seasons. The yard is a shared space however the upper deck and front porch is private for owner use only. We are unable to host any pets.

Our stay was wonderful. We only wished we arrived earlier to enjoy the place for longer.Abby was incredibly responsive to questions and has really thought of everything you might need for the most comfortable stay. The place is very spacious and well appointed. It is quiet and we all slept well.We highly recommend staying here!

Upon arrival we found this beautiful basement apartment. It is fully stocked. The apartment is cozy and comfortable. There is access to an open yard with places to sit and enjoy the day. Very nice time away from home.

This adorable basement apartment was just as the pictures are listed. There were no surprises.Abigail the host is the sweetest and amazing. We hated to leave and wish we could have stayed the rest of the week.There are chickens on the ground that I enjoyed seeing and talking to.You will be happy you chose this property for your stay.Will stay there if ever in the area again.

Abigail’s place is well decorated, clean and full of clearly thought out amenities. This basement apartment is roomier than anticipated with a couple different indoor seating areas as well as outdoors. Comfortable bed and responsive host. Easy access to laundry and a suitable kitchen area. Quick access to west Salem and located in a safe neighborhood.Our stay was on the shorter side so we did not have time to enjoy all the amenities available. Being a basement apartment, there are the usual sounds of daily living at times but our hosts were graciously quiet during the sleeping hours. We were out for most of the daytime hours. All in all a more than satisfactory stay, thank you!

Pretty victorian house in a beautiful area. The basement unit is reached by a gravel path, through a gate and down some stairs. It is large and and uniquely cute. We enjoyed the refrigerator, hot plate, ice maker and made pour over coffee with a Chemex. There is also a 1 cup Keurig. There are a few kitchen items, a skillet and dishes. We love West Salem and will no doubt come again.

Greg and I are both from Arizona however I grew up in Santa Rosa California and Greg has lived in salem for 37 years. I love gardening, music, and art and Greg is a local magician.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this historic home for the space it provides to raise our family and to host friends and family and build a sense of community. We are continuing to build on to this home and land and restore the gardens and farmstand. Our goals are to grow our business, open a micro school and be good neighbors.

What makes this property unique

Our home was built in 1870, it has been added to and remodeled by many people before us, each adding to its beauty. It was once a place of community, had a u-pick farm that provided vegetables and fruit to the greater salem area. It was once a 36 acre farm and only this 1 acre has been preserved. This home is fondly remembered by many generations of Salem residents and warmly reffered to as “The Lindbeck Farmhouse.”. It was owned by Carolyn and John Lindbeck who were some of the best of Salems farmers. Capt John Lindbeck served our country and was also a local magician.
