This home tells its story from the very moment you walk through the door. There is a specific ambiance here—a unique blend of history and warmth—that immediately provides a sense of peace and relaxation. Restored with a "nurse’s eye" for precision and care, we were meticulous with our attention to detail throughout the home to ensure every group has everything they need for ultimate comfort. Our genuine hope is for each and every guest to feel special and experience that serenity the moment they arrive, never feeling like just another traveler passing through.

The Space

The Heirloom Suite: Our incredibly spacious primary bedroom boasts a brand-new, cozy private porch that is the absolute perfect spot for your morning cup of coffee. The attached full bathroom is beautiful and spacious, featuring a stunning tub designed for beauty, luxury, and ultimate relaxation.

The Pullman Suite: Step into the golden age of travel. This room is designed to capture the plushness, elegance, and luxury of a classic Pullman train car. We’ve designed a special "Porter Corner" with the theme that the porter is officially off-duty—meaning it is your time to simply kick back and be the guest. For a little extra relaxation, you will also find a massaging pad conveniently stowed in the drawer of the Queen bed.

The Atlanta Suite: If you love an upbeat, energetic vibe, this vibrant twin bedroom brings the bustling streets of the city right to you! It captures the lively spirit of Atlanta, complete with fun traffic light decor, vintage city art, and a special appearance by "Izzy," who has been hanging out here since the 1996 Olympics.

The Ledger’s Office & Flex Space: This room is a true sanctuary and the most versatile spot in the house! It serves as a quiet study featuring authentic historical touches and doubles as a fourth bedroom with a comfortable twin bed. It also houses our laundry station, which is designed to blend seamlessly into the office space for your convenience. Whether you use it for quiet contemplation, a dedicated workspace, or an extra sleeping area, it’s a peaceful nook perfect for reflection.

The Kitchen & Flex Dining: Fully equipped with all the appliances, cookware, and space you need to easily prepare and enjoy a home-cooked family meal together. The true center of the house features a Moxie-inspired Flex Dining concept for a traditional family dinner or a quick on-the-go bite. The centerpiece is the large island with seating for 6, specifically designed to invite a warm family-centered atmosphere. Just outside the kitchen door you'll find the side deck featuring a grill, a fire pit, and comfortable seating for those peaceful evenings under the stars.

The Neighborhood Vibe
Our historic residential neighborhood offers a tranquil setting for your stay. While the neighborhood is predominantly quiet, you’ll occasionally hear the nostalgic, distant whistle of a passing train—a charming echo of the area’s rich history. Along with these echoes of the past, you may also hear the soft sounds of a living community. We are committed to providing a seamless, Five-Star Southern Hospitality experience that is as reliable as it is elegant.

ABOUT YOUR HOST

I am originally from Maryland, and much of my life is defined by my volunteer work and my commitment to supporting the community. To be honest, I never imagined myself as a host; I am not "into" the real estate side of things. I actually fell into this venture through my husband’s work in real estate, but once I started, I realized it gave me a unique platform to do what I love most: showing genuine personal interest in others.

I believe that in today’s world, the art of truly "seeing" people has been lost. Times have changed, and people often become so self-absorbed that they don't stop to appreciate the beauty in the families and individuals right in front of them. That kind of personal connection is rare nowadays, and I want to bring it back.

When I ask my guests "What brings you to the area?" please know it isn't out of nosiness. It is because I want to tailor your experience to your specific needs. Whether you are here for a family reunion, a girls' weekend, or a stressful business trip, knowing your story helps me prepare the home and your greeting so that you feel truly seen and special.

My goal isn't just to provide a bed, but to ensure every guest feels genuinely cared for. When a family feels that someone is interested in their comfort, it transforms a simple trip into a lasting memory. At The Southern Ledger, you are a guest of honor in a home built on thoughtfulness, respect, and a desire to help you find a true sense of serenity.

Why they chose this property

THE NEIGHBORHOOD: A HISTORIC SANCTUARY IN SOUTH FULTON

What I love most about the Red Oak Historic District is the unexpected sense of peace it offers. Even though we are just 8–10 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, there is a distinct feeling of stepping back in time when you arrive at The Southern Ledger.
As a host, what I value most is the "tucked away" feeling of this property. Although we are in a residential neighborhood with friendly neighbors, once you are on this land, it feels like a private, secluded retreat. It truly is a "soft landing" for the weary traveler. My last guest described it perfectly: even with the city nearby, the home feels hidden and peaceful. It is a quiet community where you can hear the birds on the enclosed privacy porch, yet it feels "alive" with the authentic spirit of Georgia.

WHAT I ENJOY MOST ABOUT THIS NEIGHBORHOOD:
A RESPECTFUL COMMUNITY: Because this is a settled, quiet community, it is the perfect spot for guests looking for a low-key sanctuary. To maintain the peace for our neighbors, no parties or events are permitted.

THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: I chose this location for its rare combination of 1930s historic soul and modern convenience. You can go from the high-energy pulse of the Porsche Experience Center or Downtown Atlanta to the quiet calm of our back deck in minutes.

A TRUE PARK & RIDE HUB: I enjoy offering a stress-free travel experience. Being so close to the airport allows me to provide a Park & Ride option that saves my guests time and money, making their trip to Atlanta seamless.

A VERSATILE ATMOSPHERE: I love that this home accommodates every kind of respectful stay. Whether it’s a Family Cookout on the grill, a relaxed Girls' Weekend centered around our Porter Corner spa amenities, or a focused Game Day gathering, the environment here is designed for quality time.

What makes this property unique

WHAT MAKES THE SOUTHERN LEDGER UNIQUE?

The Southern Ledger is more than just a place to stay; it is a story waiting to be told. Built in 1939, this home sits on land rich with South Fulton history, and I have meticulously researched every detail to ensure that heritage is honored. From the moment you step through the door, you aren’t just entering a house—you are stepping into a curated experience that truly feels like home.

Each room is themed to reflect a different chapter of travel and history, but what truly makes us stand out is the level of thoughtfulness behind every corner. I believe in a true "home away from home" philosophy: if you reach for something, it should already be there, every amenity was chosen with your relaxation in mind.

The property itself is discreet but bold. While it offers a quiet, private presence in the Red Oak Historic District, the interior design and the serenity of the land make a lasting impression. If you ever find you need something that isn't already provided, I pride myself on being highly responsive—if it’s not there, I will work to ensure it is there in minutes upon request. At The Southern Ledger, you aren't just a guest; you are the guest of honor in a 1930s sanctuary designed for modern peace and total serenity.
