About the host
Hosted by Carmel Monfiletto
HI there. I'm Carmel and I have owned this lovely townhouse since 1998.
I absolutely love the beach. I grew up in Belmar, NJ very close to Springsteen country and the salt air never left my blood. For years I rented this house to weekly tenants until I moved here full time in 2015 from PA when I fortunately got recruited for a job. I'm a nutritionist during the day, and mother to 3 great kids (27, 24, 21). We love the laid back atmosphere, and being able to wear flip flops and shorts everywhere we go. One of my favorite things to do is walk the beach in the morning and watch the sunrise, and then hang out on the back beach after work and watch the sunset. No two sunsets are alike and I never get tired of it. Dewey is also a great place to dance, listen to live music, and eat! Read less

Why they chose this property
While most people felt disconnected during the pandemic, I made more friends than ever. Many people were working from home, and chose to come to their beach houses to do so. We are a tight knit community and supported each other during those odd years. We've stayed close ever since, watching each others' homes, helping with contractors and repairmen, celebrating holidays and birthdays, offering friendship, connection, and emotional support. We walk our dogs together, share meals, concerts and happy hours, and there is always someone around to share the happenings of the day. It sometimes reminds me of college. We lovingly call our neighborhood, SoDew, for South Dewey and we will argue with anyone that Anchor Way is absolutely the best street in town to live on.
What makes this property unique
I don't believe any other rental in Dewey can offer a private backyard beach. The setting is so beautiful, natural, and serene. Guests have commented that they were content just to sit on the deck and watch the boats and birds, even though the ocean is just a short walk away. And even though we are located on the quiet, south end of town, everything is within walking distance - The Post for breakfast, Nalu for lunch or dinner and live music, The iconic Rusty Rudder and Bottle and Cork for famous bands, and the Lighthouse to watch the same amazing sunsets you'll get at the house, but with friendly tourists and locals alike.
