About this property

Charming Waterfront 3-Bedroom Townhome in Dewey Beach

There are no hotels in Dewey Beach that offer both sweeping bay views and a private bayside beach like you’ll enjoy at our home. Relax and unwind, or take advantage of everything Dewey has to offer — from nightly live music to outstanding local restaurants. Bring your bike, SUP, kayak, fishing gear, binoculars, and beach chairs. The ocean beach is just a 5-minute walk (0.3 miles) away.

Even better, step out back and enjoy the private bay beach shared exclusively by the four attached townhomes at Villas By The Bay. Sunsets are breathtaking, and the birdwatching and wildlife are truly special — one guest even witnessed a tortoise laying eggs along the beach path.

Guests love the casual vibe in Dewey Beach. Shorts and flip-flops are appropriate attire most anywhere. Dress up if you like, but there is no "dress code" here. Pack a sweatshirt or light jacket; nights can be chilly early in the season.

Activities: Water sports, golf, birding, beach, biking, mini-golf, lots of shopping, pickleball, tennis are all nearby. Gordon's Pond, Cape Henlopen, and Indian River State Parks offer beautiful natural landscapes and trails. Live music every night, dancing, and karaoke for the music lovers. Rehoboth, Bethany Beach, and Ocean City, Maryland are just a short drive and offer many family friendly activities and restaurant options.

The Space
Guests have access to the entire townhouse, with the exception of the separate first-floor studio apartment.

The main floor features a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a conventional/convection oven, microwave, air fryer, and ice maker. The large dining table comfortably seats 6–8 guests, and the balcony overlooks Anchor Way. The open, casual living area includes a large-screen TV and opens onto a furnished deck with panoramic bay and marina views — easily the highlight of the home.

Upstairs, the primary bedroom offers a private balcony with the same stunning water views. Two additional generously sized bedrooms share a full bathroom.

Central AC is icy cold. Many guests enjoy opening the kitchen and living room sliders to create a refreshing cross-breeze as a lovely alternative. Washer/dryer is located on the first floor.

Parking
Park your car and leave it. Dewey is a walkable town with nightlife, restaurants, ice cream cafes and shopping all within blocks from the house. Two parking spaces are provided directly in front of the garage (parked front to back). Additional street parking is available with a town parking pass purchased at Town Hall or via metered parking.

House Rules
No smoking or vaping inside the home or on balconies (neighbors are non-smoking). Smoking is permitted on the beach only.
No parties or events.
No pets allowed.

Guest Access & Host Presence
During summer months, the owner resides in the separate first-floor studio apartment. Owner is on-site or nearby, available if needed, while fully respecting your privacy.

Additional Notes
A security camera is mounted outside the townhouse entrance; there are no cameras inside the home. Anchor Way is a quiet, safe neighborhood, and guests often comment on how comfortable they feel walking to and from town, even in the evening. You’ll also meet many of my friendly neighbors.

If you’re looking for bayfront serenity with easy access to the ocean, dining, and entertainment, this is the perfect Dewey Beach getaway.

HI there. I'm Carmel and I have owned this lovely townhouse since 1998.
I absolutely love the beach. I grew up in Belmar, NJ very close to Springsteen country and the salt air never left my blood. For years I rented this house to weekly tenants until I moved here full time in 2015 from PA when I fortunately got recruited for a job. I'm a nutritionist during the day, and mother to 3 great kids (27, 24, 21). We love the laid back atmosphere, and being able to wear flip flops and shorts everywhere we go. One of my favorite things to do is walk the beach in the morning and watch the sunrise, and then hang out on the back beach after work and watch the sunset. No two sunsets are alike and I never get tired of it. Dewey is also a great place to dance, listen to live music, and eat! Read less

Why they chose this property

While most people felt disconnected during the pandemic, I made more friends than ever. Many people were working from home, and chose to come to their beach houses to do so. We are a tight knit community and supported each other during those odd years. We've stayed close ever since, watching each others' homes, helping with contractors and repairmen, celebrating holidays and birthdays, offering friendship, connection, and emotional support. We walk our dogs together, share meals, concerts and happy hours, and there is always someone around to share the happenings of the day. It sometimes reminds me of college. We lovingly call our neighborhood, SoDew, for South Dewey and we will argue with anyone that Anchor Way is absolutely the best street in town to live on.

What makes this property unique

I don't believe any other rental in Dewey can offer a private backyard beach. The setting is so beautiful, natural, and serene. Guests have commented that they were content just to sit on the deck and watch the boats and birds, even though the ocean is just a short walk away. And even though we are located on the quiet, south end of town, everything is within walking distance - The Post for breakfast, Nalu for lunch or dinner and live music, The iconic Rusty Rudder and Bottle and Cork for famous bands, and the Lighthouse to watch the same amazing sunsets you'll get at the house, but with friendly tourists and locals alike.
