About this property

#1 Prime location, updated style in lovely historic Washington, NC!

Oak View Cottage (circa 1904) combines history with modern comforts and PRIME location. Enjoy the ancient live oaks from the front porch and the landscaped backyard. At night, strings of market lights and an outdoor television create an extended outdoor living space to enjoy NC weather. One block south is the Pamlico River waterfront, marina, festival park, and estuarium. One block west, you will find an abundance of restaurants, bars, shopping and antiques. Directly across the street is St. Peter's Church (est 1822). Enormous live oaks at St. Peter's and in the backyard make for a shady tree-lined view. Walk safely and enjoy leisure in a historic small NC town!

The house: Oak View Cottage has three bedrooms and two baths. On the first floor is a King bedroom and one full bathroom (tiled shower stall) which are not connected. Upstairs are a bedroom with two XL twin beds (does not have its own bathroom), and a King bedroom with large walk-in closet, and en-suite bathroom. This bathroom has a tiled shower, large granite sink vanity, and second-floor views toward the Pamlico River. Downstairs, enjoy a fully equipped kitchen with gas range and oven and a large refrigerator with ice maker. The laundry room is equipped with large capacity washer and dryer, and folding counter. There is an iron, clothes steamer and ironing board. A unique feature of this house is a 8ft x8ft separate room off of the kitchen that is a dedicated workspace (desk, desk chair and wireless printer) which can also double as a nursery. A portable size crib is available on request. This room has a pocket door for quiet and privacy. From the back door of the kitchen, you step into an outdoor oasis with cushioned seating, an outdoor TV, propane gas fire pit, pavers, porch swing, and market lights.

I have stayed in lots of rental properties and this beautiful home ranks up there as one of our favorites! The home is beautifully decorated and feels like a home, not a generic rental property. Our group of six was so comfortable, plenty of space for everyone. The beds were great, everyone said they slept well. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed spending time together on the back porch/patio. The location is awesome…we walked to the waterfront and downtown and strolled in the pretty historic neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it!

As Eastern NC residents, we love hosting people to this beautiful part of the country! We LOVE the water- boating, swimming, fishing and relaxing- this is where we want to be.

Why they chose this property

The Historic District of Washington, NC is packed with old trees, brightly colored houses, and so many fun things to do within walking distance. It's a safe place to walk and take in the sights. It seems that in all four seasons, there is something interesting happening.

What makes this property unique

This house has unique traits. It is located in a perfect spot- not right in the downtown action, but a very, very short walk away. The proximity to fun and to the water is superb! The backyard is set up for enjoying a beautiful evening with friends and family. The front porch is the perfect southern spot to relax and watch the world go by. Majestic live oak trees can be seen from the front porch and in the backyard, making the 'Oak View Cottage' a fitting taste of the South.
