About this property
Villa Horizonte, Spanien
Villa Horizonte offers a magnificent panoramic view of the rolling countryside, the town of Puntagorda, and the sea. This newly built architect-designed villa is the ideal place for a couple to enjoy a comfortable holiday in a hiking region without being completely isolated or constantly dependant on a hire car.
Restaurants, shops, an organic supermarket, and the bus stop are all within walking distance. On weekends, you can buy regional products and handicrafts at the Mercadillo de Puntagorda. At the neighbouring cooperative, they crack the almonds used to make the famous Palmeran almond butter, among other things. In the fall, during the grape harvest, winemakers deliver their grapes there.
There are many hiking trails in the Puntagorda area where you can explore the region on foot. You can hike sections of the GR131 island-circling trail or, if you prefer a more leisurely pace, simply take long walks along the many hiking and farm trails.
The wild beaches in the north are only suitable for swimming in the summer; in the winter, the currents are too dangerous. However, it’s always worth hiking down to the coast—for example, to the former harbour, the Puerto de Puntagorda. During the summer months, Puntagorda’s public swimming pool is open.
Puerto de Tazacorte, a quaint town with seafood restaurants and a long sandy beach, is about a 30-minute drive away.
Villa Horizonte:
Two simple cubes form the two wings of the 72-square-meter building, with the entryway situated between them. Facing the ocean, the house opens up with many windows, offering unobstructed, sweeping views all the way to the horizon.
The modern, linear style is softened by a partition wall on the terrace, into which an antique teak door is integrated.
The living room of the holiday villa is furnished with a leather couch and a very comfortable recliner. A large window wall with a sliding glass door leads out to the terrace. The windows are tinted so that the room does not get too hot, even in strong sunlight. Against the end wall stands a handmade sideboard made of solid wood, followed by a writing desk with an elegantly shaped chair. The warm tone of the cherry wood adds a warm accent to the room’s otherwise rather cool colour scheme.
On the opposite side is a dining table that seats three. The kitchen is separated from the room by a curved aluminium partition. It is also made of cherry wood and is very well equipped. An oven and dishwasher are, of course, provided, as is a fully automatic coffee machine. A basic selection of spices, as well as vinegar and oil, is provided.
In the second wing, there is an utility room with a washing machine, dryer, iron, ironing board, and cleaning supplies. Next to it is the bathroom, which is equipped with a walk-in shower, toilet, and sink.
The bedroom opens onto the terrace. Two beautiful wooden wardrobes, modelled on traditional Chinese wedding chests, are available for your holiday wardrobe.
The house has underfloor heating, including in the bathroom. In addition, a fan heater can be provided.
Villa Horizonte features a large terrace facing the sea with various seating areas and sun loungers. Native plants were selected for the landscaping of the 5,000-square-meter property, ensuring that the house blends harmoniously into its surroundings.
In front of the entrance is another terrace, perfect for breakfast. It is well sheltered by the slope behind it. Parking is available on the property next to the house.
