About this property

Cozy Cabin #2

Off-grid camping near Algonquin Park! Cabins have a handy screen tent and there's a new camper shower house in 2026. Our vehicle accessible cabins are close to 3 quiet beaches, crown land lakes, and snowmobile trails. Pets welcome. Enjoy 8 km of on-site hiking trails in summer, and snowshoe/ski trails in winter. This cabin has a furnace to keep it cozy on cool nights. Firewood available here with nearby stores for shopping. Three hours from Ottawa and Toronto.

IMPORTANT NOTES for our valued guests!

OFF SEASON HEAT ---

Propane for heat is available for $15 per night ON REQUEST. Please contact Penny for details. Large bags of seasoned hardwood are available on site FOR $10/bag.

ACCESS ---

Drive to your doorstep via a well-signed, level, flat gravel laneway through our wooded 134 acre wilderness farm just outside Algonquin Park. Signs are reflective for day or night-time self check ins. Our main sign says 'Highland Wilderness Tours' and is lit up with sparkly lights at night, as are the main gates. The closest store for sundry items is five minutes. The closest large town is 15 minutes.

WHAT TO BRING ---

After booking, we send a link to our camper page telling you exactly what you'll need to bring to make your stay comfortable, plus things to see and do, etc. The 'Coles Notes' of what you'll need is below, but packing as if you are going camping is a good rule of thumb. Ice for coolers is available five minutes away at the Maynooth General Store. Penny is always available for questions.

OFF SEASON ACCESS

All cabins are fully accessible by vehicle from mid-May until late November. Meadowlark #5 has easy, year-round access.

Deer Meadow #1 and Cozy Cabin #2 are bookable in March, April and May, but between March and mid-May, the trails may not yet be open. In those cases, guests park at the barn (secure location) and walk nine minutes along a snowy trail to the cabin. For NO additional fee, we provide a sleigh, and/or a tracked vehicle to bring gear in and out if you have a lot.

Early season is actually one of the nicest times to visit, because the animals are waking up and you can see their tracks in the snow. Bring boots and take a nice walk along snowy trails with your morning coffee.

Please contact Penny for further details about off-season rentals.

IMPORTANT NOTES ---

We do not provide bedding, coolers, cooking items, dishes, etc. You will need to pack as if you are going camping. There is ice available at the Maynooth General Store, five minutes away, for coolers.

Non-potable water is available at shower house from May to October. Beyond that we suggest a 15L jug of water ($5) from No Frills in Bancroft.

Deer Meadow #1, Cozy Cabin #2, and Meadowlark #5 have safe, off-grid heaters. Fox Den #3 and Moose Run #4 are unheated. Propane for heat is available for $15 per night. Please let the office know before arrival if you want heat.

We send helpful hints of what to bring after booking, to make your camping experience fantastic!
