Summary:

The Sonoma Coast stretches out before you from this well-placed Sea Ranch home. Bring your pup -- dogs love the bluff trails here. Step outside to a deck overlooking the ocean. Room for 6 in this 3-bedroom home. Just a 10-minute walk to the heated community pool. Your front door opens to Sea Ranch's 50 miles of trails and the wild Sonoma Coast. Morning coffee tastes different when the view is the Pacific -- and it never gets old.



The Space:

From the comfortable living room to the handmade quilts on the beds, you will feel like the owner has personally rolled out the welcome mat to this Sea Ranch home.



Designed by Phil Bradley and built by Harold Halvorsen, this 1,300-square feet home is built on a natural rock out-cropping overlooking white water and commons near Pebble Beach. There are nice decks on both sides of the house and a small landscaped yard area and enclosed area. This is a great house for a family of six, including up to two dogs. A wood stove supplements the central forced air heat.



Come relax at The Sea Ranch with a stay at this delightful retreat!



*Access to home is by a flight of stairs along garage. For those who have trouble with stairs, you can walk around the home and access the back deck.



KITCHEN & DINING

Craft your favorite meals in the fully equipped kitchen, complete with dishwasher, making cleanup a breeze. With seating for your group, mealtimes become part of the experience.

Guest Access:

Step inside and settle in -- every room and amenity in this home is yours for your stay. This home welcomes up to 2 dogs -- the yard and nearby trails are ready for your pup. Driveway parking is available at the property. Detailed check-in instructions, including the door code, will be provided prior to your arrival. As a guest, you also have access to Sea Ranch community amenities, including the pools, tennis courts, fitness center, and miles of trails. A recreation pass will be provided.



The Neighborhood:

Stretching along ten miles of the Sonoma Coast, The Sea Ranch offers a rare blend of coastal wilderness and thoughtfully designed homes. Nearby highlights include community heated pool and hot tub (South) (10-minute walk), Pebble Beach access trail (14-minute walk), Black Point headland trails (2-minute drive). Trails lead from your door to the bluffs, beaches, and through the forest. Heated pools, tennis courts, a fitness center, and The Sea Ranch Lodge round out the amenities. Gualala is a quick 10-minute drive south for groceries, dining, and fuel. For a scenic outing, Jenner and Bodega Bay are further down Highway 1.



Getting Around:

The drive from San Francisco is approximately 2.5 hours via Highway 101 to Highway 1. Fly into Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa, about 1.5 hours east, and rent a car. The Highway 1 drive along the coast is spectacular and worth building into your travel day.



Other Things to Note:

Sea Ranch has three recreation centers with heated pools, saunas, and tennis courts. Access passes are provided with your stay -- check availability upon arrival as these shared amenities can be popular during peak times.



Exterior lighting is minimal by design to preserve the stunning dark sky -- bring a flashlight for evening walks and enjoy some of the best stargazing on the California coast.



Whale watching season runs from December through April -- grab the binoculars and watch for gray whale spouts from your window. Spring (April-June) brings a wildflower show across the coastal meadows -- lupine, poppies, and iris paint the landscape. Summer (June-September) brings the warmest days and longest light. Morning fog is common along the coast -- it usually burns off by midday.



Up to 2 dogs are welcome. Please keep dogs on leash on trails and clean up after them.



Cell service can be spotty along the coast. The home has WiFi for staying connected.

Great location in Sea Ranch!

The house was a little dated, but the location, scenery and deck looking out to the ocean completely made up for it! The beach was also only a short walk away. The check-in was super easy and it had all of the necessities stocked.

We had an enjoyable stay at the Thayer house this week. As other reviewers have noted, some of the decor is a bit dated, but it's nicely appointed and in a great location. I appreciated being able to bring our dog along on our trip.

Wonderful Sea Ranch getaway

Charming home for our family (4 adults, one small child, one infant). Very close walk to the ocean. Great trails for walking/running by the beach. Excellent access to the pool/recreation center close by, as well as to the Sea Ranch lodge for coffee/pastries. Very relaxing. Would highly recommend, and would love to stay here again.

This house has gorgeous views! Probably my favorite Sea Ranch house due to the proximity to trails and view of the water. I also found the house itself to be cozy and very clean. The only downside is that the beds are quite hard, so not good if you like softer beds.

The house was clean, had everything a family of 4-6 might need. We were particularly happy with the wood burning stove because the power went out during the storm, and we were able to cuddle up near the fire, stay warm, and hang out. Plenty of room downstairs to fit 4-6 people, and a doggo, assuming you like the people you vacation with.

This place was great in many ways. The view and close access to a beautiful beach was amazing. The house having a washer and dryer was a nice bonus. It would have been nice if the furniture was actually comfortable though. Also everything was very clean at waist level. However the floor and furniture had lots of hair from other guests which was a bit off putting. Definitely would stay here again though.

Wonderful home in Sea Ranch! The neighborhood is a 10/10, the most beautiful coastal town I’ve ever been to. The balcony view from the house itself is worth every penny! The kitchen was well stocked and had all the appliances we needed. The decor inside was a little dated, including the deer heads mounted on the walls, so if I could change one thing it would be those. Otherwise a perfect spot!

View is amazing. Full 180 degree shot of the ocean. Quick walk to beach. Love the back deck sitting area watching the sun set. Enjoyed the funky decorative vibe inside. Heat worked well. Shower head downstairs could easily be raised up and replaced. Also, an exhaust fan in downstairs bathroom would be nice as well.

An incredible location and family home

This home is one of the few in Sea Ranch that look to be owned and used by the same family for many years — we loved their homely touches and decor. The house is in the most incredible location at Sea Ranch, and is very comfortable. The house needs to update their bedframes (they are so loud that simply getting onto the bed would wake up our child in the room next door or downstairs!) and they are small double beds which is tricky for any adults over 5.5ft! The house also needs some deep cleaning — the couches and mats are stained from use and need to be reupholstered or cleaned. That being said, it is a beautiful home and in the most incredible spot in Sea Ranch and I'd highly recommend.

Had a great two week stay and loved the view. Winter was tough as the power went out and there was no assistance from anyone. Vacasa was no help at all. The wood stove kept us warm but no help was given during three days of outage. Expected more when paying for the rental. If coming in winter, be prepared. Once power was back, the house is a nice rustic rental with a great view and access to the trails.

The management fee's and taxes were almost equal to the cost to rent the house for 4 nights. What's wrong with this picture Homeaway? There needs to be more upfront disclosure about total cost. Maybe, adjust them downward as well.

This is my second time trying to post this review, seems a little concerning that my first one didn’t post. Anyway, the view and location is amazing! However the house itself could use a little TLC. The beds are very old, and they’ve put a layer of foam on them to try and make it more comfortable. Everything is very creaky in this house, and it’s definitelt not for tall people. The shower hit me below my arm pit. For the price the view is pretty worth it, but they do make you pay a lot of extra fees. Two types of service fees and An additional rental fee is ridiculous, the totals of all these fees almost double the cost of the house to rent for a week.

Timeless beauty and Tranquility - A Sea Ranch Vacation We Will Never Forget

Decor and style of the home was wonderful. Exactly what my family and I love. Everything was clean and organized when we arrived. View was spectacular, even better than a pricier Sea Ranch home I stayed in that was closer to the water. Location was also better for my family and I, as it felt more private yet so easy to just walk to the beach. I really can’t think of anything to improve this wonderful home. I have read some other reviews saying the house is dated. I am not sure what they are talking about. The house has everything anyone could ever need for a relaxing vacation by the sea. The facilities are well kept, wifi incredibly fast, and water pressure is just wow! You are clearly shown pictures of the home’s “aesthetic” and it is decorated to take you back to a time where people don’t worry about checking your texts and instagram every minute. However, if you are the type to like a more modern/upscale/bougie style, you way want to try changing your vacation location. Sea Ranch connects you with nature and serenity, and this house is the epitome of that. Thank you for letting me and my family enjoy such an amazingly peaceful getaway here.
