This 1,600 sq ft cabin in Zig Zag Village sits in the woods at the foot of Mt. Hood, just minutes from Government Camp and Timberline. Three bedrooms — two on the main floor with a king and a queen, and an upstairs bunk room with two bunk beds (full on bottom, twin on top) that doubles as a casual hangout space — sleep up to 10 comfortably. Two full bathrooms keep bigger groups moving in the morning.
The living room is anchored by a fireplace and opens to a fully stocked kitchen with everything for a real cabin meal: stove, oven, dishwasher, full cookware, dining table for the whole crew. Step out to the backyard and you've got a hot tub, fire pit, BBQ, and outdoor seating — the kind of setup where everyone lands at the end of the day. The Village HOA also gives guests shared access to the Sandy River — a short walk through the community's maintained trails. Easy spot for a morning coffee on the bank, summer wading, or just listening to the water. Heat, A/C, in-unit washer/dryer, and reliable WiFi round it out. A real cabin that doesn't feel rough.

The Neighborhood:
Zig Zag Village is a quiet, wooded community at the base of Mt. Hood, about an hour east of Portland on Highway 26. You're 10 minutes from Government Camp and 20 from Timberline Lodge — close enough to ski, hike, or sled in the morning and be back at the cabin for dinner.
A few short drives and you'll find local favorites: Zig Zag Mountain Cafe for breakfast, Skyway Bar & Grill for live music and barbecue, and the Zig Zag Inn for a classic Mt. Hood meal. There's a grocery store nearby for stocking up, plus gear rental shops in Government Camp if you forgot anything.
In summer, the Sandy River is a short walk away through the community's maintained trails, and the Salmon River, Trillium Lake, and dozens of hiking trails are all close by. In winter, it's all about the slopes — Timberline, Mt. Hood Skibowl, and Mt. Hood Meadows are all within 30 minutes. Year-round, this stretch of Mt. Hood is one of Oregon's most-loved escapes, and Zig Zag Village puts you right in the middle of it.
Getting Around:
Portland International Airport (PDX) is about 70 minutes away via Highway 26 east. There's no public transit out here — a car is essential for getting to and around Mt. Hood. The cabin has off-street parking right at the home.
In winter, traction tires or chains are required on Highway 26 from late November through April — check Oregon DOT for conditions before heading up. Roads are plowed but can get snowy overnight.
🚭 Strictly non-smoking inside — tobacco or marijuana. Outdoor smoking is fine.
⏰ Quiet hours 10pm–7am. Please be mindful of neighbors in this residential community.
🏊 The HOA pool follows community rules and seasonal hours posted at the pool — please respect them.
The cabin is multi-level with bedrooms on both floors and stairs to the upstairs bunk room, which may not be ideal for guests with mobility limitations.
Interaction with Guests:
We're available by message anytime and typically respond within minutes. We're local to Portland and happy to help with anything - from restaurant recommendations to a quick answer at midnight when you can't find something. We keep a hands-off approach unless you need us, and when you do, we're right there.
