Wonderful stay on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island! The property was exactly as described — peaceful, comfortable, and a great home base for exploring Mt. Desert and Acadia National Park. The owner was very responsive and easy to communicate with from booking through checkout. We'd happily stay here again.

We loved our 3 day stay as a family of 4 with 2 small kids! It was a perfect spot for our time in Acadia and Bar Harbor. It was away from all the crowds so it provided a great relaxing start to the day and evening. We enjoyed spending time on the screened in patio that allowed us to enjoy the weather without the bugs. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans. Would recommend for anyone looking to stay outside the busy side of the island but convenient enough to drive in for the day!

NOT AS DESCRIBED: We hoped to enjoy the quiet solitude & dark night skies for stargazing on what was described as "almost an acre of property to feel isolated on." In fact, it's closer to HALF an acre right on the MAIN ROAD with cars & trucks passing throughout the day AND night. Notably omitted from the listing was any reference to the massive FLOODLIGHTS from the nearby Community School illuminating the sky, obscuring most stars, seriously compromising any hope of quiet & isolation. We took for granted the warped floors, slow-draining tub & sink, and other quirks of a 70-year-old weather-worn home that sadly seemed far older than that. What was upsetting was that over the first HALF of our stay, a maintenance man needed repeated visits to repair the front door so it could close, replace multiple burnt-out light bulbs, & reinforce the kitchen table to prevent it from collapsing. The bathroom sink & tub never drained properly, so we resorted to brushing our teeth in the kitchen sink & going without showering.Given the property was in disrepair, & impossible to get the quiet isolation s described in the listing, we left early rather than stay another night at this 936-square-foot cottage. The contrite property owner was courteous & apologetic via texts, and upon our departure, promised to update her listing to reflect reality. Simply put, these deficiencies and misrepresentations ruined our stay. Overall a very disappointing experience.

I'm so sorry to hear that in the end your stay did not live up to your expectations. I'm happy that we were able to accommodate your many requests during and before your stay, our team prides ourselves on being very responsive and accommodating. At the same time, we are disappointed that your experience was so different from that of the guests who have enjoyed the cottage and highlighted its setting, water access, character, and peaceful coastal Maine atmosphere in their reviews. While our cottage has all of the amenities that you want in a home, it is not a newly built home. The "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island is a wonderful place to stay, but it sounds like it did not live up to your vacation goals. As homeowners, and VRBO hosts, we continue to invest in our home and make it as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Lovely rustic cottage! Tidal water access. Close to Acadia NP locations on the “quiet side.” Great for stargazing and nearby lake access and restaurants. Excellent hosts. Very responsive.
