Because the Evergreen Cascades Lookout is surrounded by wilderness, you may encounter local wildlife during your stay. Deer, birds, and other forest animals are commonly seen in the area. We ask guests to be respectful of the natural environment and help us preserve the peaceful beauty of this special place.

Security cameras: The Lookout has two exterior security cameras for property safety. One camera is located at the driveway and one camera is located at the front door. These cameras monitor exterior access areas only. There are no cameras inside the home and no cameras pointed toward private areas.

Important Note About North Cascades National Park:

We’re just an 11-minute drive from the western entrance of North Cascades National Park! From late November or early December through April or May, Highway 20 closes seasonally at Ross Dam Trailhead (milepost 134) on the west side and Silver Star Gate (milepost 171) on the east.

You can still access Evergreen Cascades Lookout year-round via the west side of Highway 20. While you can’t drive all the way through North Cascades National Park in winter, you’re welcome to snowshoe in from the closure gate, about an 11 minute drive away. Other great winter outings nearby include forest hikes in Rockport State Park, about 10 minutes away, weekend bald eagle walks at the Skagit River Interpretive Center, about 10 minutes away from December to February, easy year-round walks in Newhalem like Trail of the Cedars and Ladder Creek Falls, about 20 minutes away, Happy Creek Forest Walk, about 35 to 40 minutes away, or a scenic drive to Diablo Lake Vista Point for winter views, about 40 minutes away, weather permitting.

While the garage and other structures are unavailable for use, the house and entire property are for your use only and private structures are clearly marked and out of your way :)

We loved staying at the Lookout. The upscale cottage decorating was comfortable and welcoming. The premium bedding and towels felt new, and fresh. Sheila and Victor’s thoughtful touches (hiking map, guidebook, board games) really made our stay extra comfortable. There was a basket in the bathroom with necessities that might be needed. I definitely needed an individual package of Advil after 2 days of hiking in the North Cascades National Park. We cooked meals in the kitchen that had everything we needed. I recommend bringing groceries as the Marblemount restaurants weren’t open when we needed them. We had delicious pizza and salad from Annie’s pizza station in Concrete one night. We wanted to stay as close as possible to the national park, and this place was perfect for us. We had short drives to the national park, and a quiet and relaxing place to return to at the end of the day! I would definitely recommend this place for a family or group.

Why they chose this property

Warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed, the home is the perfect setting to enjoy the remarkable beauty that surrounds it :)

What makes this property unique

The Evergreen Cascades Lookout is secluded amongst 14 acres of private pacific northwest forest, so it really feels like a peaceful escape. There are private trails, a wood-burning fireplace, and a firepit—which still blows my mind! It’s comfy, quiet, and has everything you need to relax after a day of exploring. Whether you're making s’mores, cooking dinner, or just chilling with a good book, it’s a great place to slow down and enjoy nature.
