About this property

Historic Ramsay Estate Main House | Vineyard, Gardens & Mountain Views

Inquire to Book!

Set among the rolling foothills of Greenwood, the Ramsay Estate Main House offers an extraordinary stay rooted in history, beauty, and refined country living. Originally established in the early 20th century during the height of the American “Glamour Era,” this stately residence invites guests to experience a timeless Virginia estate—thoughtfully preserved and elegantly appointed for modern comfort.

Surrounded by 78 acres of private land, the estate features a working vineyard, manicured gardens, scenic walking trails, and peaceful pastures home to cows and chickens. Whether enjoying a morning stroll through blooming peonies and hydrangeas or an evening glass of wine overlooking the mountains, every moment here feels both elevated and restorative. An on-site farm manager is available to assist during your stay, offering a seamless and well-supported experience.

Inside, the Main House blends historic character with inviting, livable luxury. The grand foyer welcomes you with a painted checkered wood floor and antique grandfather clock, setting the tone for the home's rich architectural detail. Just beyond, a sophisticated study—complete with dark wood paneling, built-in bookcases, fireplace, bar cart, and chess table—overlooks the estate's gardens and koi pond, creating a perfect space to unwind.

The formal living room reflects the elegance of the era in which the home was built, inspired by the legacy of the Gibson Girls, while the dining room offers seating for eight beside a glowing fireplace—ideal for memorable gatherings. A more relaxed family room opens to a patio with sweeping mountain views, blending indoor comfort with the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The chef's kitchen is both functional and inviting, featuring a large gas range, butcher block countertops, and a full bar setup. A charming coffee station and sunlit breakfast room with seating for eight create the perfect setting to start the day.

Upstairs, three spacious bedroom suites provide comfort and privacy for every guest:
The primary suite is a true retreat, featuring a king bed, expansive sitting room, two fireplaces, and a spa-like en-suite bath with soaking tub and separate shower.
The second bedroom offers a four-poster queen bed and a private en-suite bathroom with tub/shower combination.
The third suite is exceptionally large, with two queen beds, a sitting area, and a sunroom complete with a daybed and treadmill—ideal for extended stays. It also includes a private en-suite bath.
All bedrooms are located on the upper level, offering tranquil views of the estate from every window.

Additional amenities include a main-level powder room, a full bathroom with a mudroom-style shower, and a laundry area for added convenience.

From its storied past to its thoughtfully curated interiors and breathtaking grounds, the Ramsay Estate Main House offers a rare opportunity to experience one of Virginia's most distinctive private retreats—perfect for gatherings, special occasions, or simply an unforgettable countryside escape.

Bookings for 3 or more nights include complimentary access to The Greencroft Club for pool, racquet sports, and dining. Please note that a booking and confirmation agreement will also be sent via text to review and sign upon booking.
