Check-out instructions

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Please lock the apartment by pushing the lock button on the bottom right of the door lock. The deadbolt should lock, but please doublecheck it closes.
Place garbage in kitchen garbage (black bin) and recycling (blue bin) in the kitchen. Gather dishes & load the dishwasher. We'd appreciate if you could also start the dishwasher before you leave.
Please do not leave any wet towels on the beds or floors. Please place these in the bathrooms for collection. Any unused towels can remain in the bedrooms.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No smoking, vaping, or drug use is allowed on the property - inside or outside.
No parties, events, or unauthorized gatherings.
Only registered guests may stay overnight

We absolutely loved our stay. Everything about the set up (check-in/out, amenities, house logistics) were extremely clear. Communication with the hosts was easy and they were quick to respond when we had a question. The location and decoration of the space was perfect. We all agreed it was the perfect balance of a well-curated space while still feeling really homey!We can’t recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back next time we’re in Ashland!

The Flatwater Loft is owned by Kristi and Adam, residents of Ashland’s historic Main Street. We live just across the street and love the rhythm of life here — the lake breeze, the walkable downtown, and the strong sense of community.

When the chance came to buy the building across from our home, we jumped at it. What started as a personal project became a labor of love: we’ve restored the space to its 1940s charm, blending vintage character with modern comfort.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Ashland’s historic Main Street because it offers the perfect mix of vibrant, small-town community and raw natural beauty. Being steps from Lake Superior means we get to enjoy the incredible lake breezes, stunning waterfront trails, and local beaches every single day. The neighborhood is incredibly walkable—you can step out the front door and easily stroll to locally owned coffee shops, independent boutiques, excellent restaurants, and historic landmarks. It’s a place where history is preserved, neighbors wave to each other, and the outdoors are always calling. Whether you're here to explore Chequamegon Bay or just want to slow down, this neighborhood perfectly captures the essence of big lake living.
